Though I didn't get to do extra weight today - I did go to pump class....But that was the beginning of the "running" for the day.... I worked for an hour before I went to the gym - took my pump class (Assisting on the teaching...so I have to be EXTRA careful on positioning!) I had to shower, get to the bank before it closed, feed the kids. get to base ball practice so we could have our game (which we lost... still a GOOD game though LOTS of jumping and running!) go to the tanning bed, shop for a birthday present for my niece to take to the birthday party I had to take her to....play in the jump machine for a few with the kids.... Now to settle in and do a few more hours of work...then go pick up my niece and "possibly" have a date later.....(maybe a little "exercise" there too ) What happened to weekends being relaxing? That's my day in a nut shell.....that's MY personal record for the day HA HA

It was 1.5 grams of carbs in the 2oz of carb control yogurt. Holy crow.. ya quarter cup makes more sense. I keep filling up 1/2 cup of fluid. Granted I sip it slow but I think a quater is better. The water I just sip once or twice every 10-15 min. Do me a favor.. when you get that program coordinator position clarify to your patients this info!! It would have been nice to have 1 page in my 50 page packet that I got dedicated to the first few days home from the hospital. On the web page.. today you don't need to know html even though I do and it is easy to learn. Many services out there that you can pay by the month that come with drag and drop tools that make creating web pages easy along with the hosting of your site. The one I use is www.homestead.com

I truly believe this is, and I am hoping that my time and efforts will eventually pay off. I LOVE this type of work, it isn't even work to me at all it is part of who I am. If someone made a good offer, I would really have to seriously conisder it. I know that there are probably some great opportunities outside my back yard so to speak... Yep drugs will do that to ya. That's why I gave you an honest feed back. Sometimes you need to step back, and look at the big picture. Meds tend to skew your perspective on a bunch of things! Well, I am off here for a while the girls are up and I just realized it's almost noon!!! Things to do things to do! You go take a nap and don't stress over it too much. It isn't anything that can't be fixed. Gentle Hug Val

I hope they give it to you. I think you have found your true calling. Maybe see what else is out there? I just also sent a message to OH to see if they can get that inital post in this thread edited. I really don't want to get any nurses in trouble. I think it is safe here but just in case.. ya know? Now that the morphine is out of my system and we have talked this out .. plus Dana just gave me the third degree because he saw it I think it is better that I get rid of it. He pointed out also that I was completely out of it and my whole time perspective of things was way off. What seemed like hours really was more like 15 minutes. He said the nurse I complained about as well as the aid was actually really good. When your in pain and on all those meds your perspective is really skewed.

Yep, you will learn fast from that won't ya? Hey, the nutrional thing is a "guideline" you need to go by what your body is telling you. At first it will be difficult to tell when you are full or when you are hungry. You will learn those two really fast. I basically put no more than a 1/4 c of liquids in a time and two tablespoons of the thicker stuff like cottage cheese and yogurt. Be sure to check the sugar amount in the yogurt too. Enjoy every last minute of it! I did! But, then again, Earl still does most of that stuff anyway. I figure it's fair trade off since I am the one who deals with the kids 99% of the time. I think he'd rather do dishes than deal with two hormonal girls all the time!! Take it easy! Val

lol.. ok so then I did dump! I had the racing heart beat too. Dana even said to me.. it seems like you are trying to fit too much food in there. I was going off the documentation the nutritionist gave me but to heck with it! Ya too much.. too soon. I'm chillin today though for sure. Live, dump, and learn.. LEARN FAST! My new motto. I'm now laying down with my feet up on the couch watching sports center while typing on the laptop. Also watching Dana run around the house cleaning and doing errands. I could get use to this for a bit.. no problemo=)

You don't know how bad I want a job like that. If they would offer, I would do it! I am trying so hard to get into OSU it isn't even funny. They know I want one, I have done a LOT of stuff for them, free too, I have made two commercials, speak at different classes and have increased the support group size by 100% +. Maybe I should do my own consulting. I wouldn't even know where to start. I want to write a book too. I swear I wish I had 30 hours in a day! Don't feel guilty or apologize...you are who you are! I think a web page would be so cool. I am just not literate in that area at all. I wish I could do that type of thing, I would love to have a web page. I just wouldh have to learn how to add stuff, and how it all works. Even my 14 year old has her own web page on some site called xanga or something...geez mom get with the program huh? See, now you are thinking in the right direction! The only time to put specific names is when you write to the DON. And basically let them know that maybe they could improve on this or that. Call them out, maybe they don't realize that patients perceive them in that way, or maybe they were having a bad day...we are human too, and sometimes it is hard to be at work when you know your kids are home sick, or there's something else going on in with a different patient, etc. Commend the nurses who did a good job. It's nice to have an ego stroke once in a while too. I know I always enjoy that! OK...go watch tv and take a nappy. It's a sleepy day here in Ohio for sure. We went from 80's to snow and 40's just like that again. ARRGH! Val

I started feeling as if I was seasick. Sweating, dizzy, nausea. I didn't dump though. Girlfriend, I hate to tell ya.... you were dumping. Dumping isn't necessarily vomiting and diarrhea. What you experienced, was dumping. Shaking, sweating, nausea, racing pulse, vomiting, lightheadedness, diarrhea, cramping, feeling like you have the flu, sometimes pain in your gut, any or all of those in any combinations is DUMPING!! Sorry. Hated to burst your bubble. That was a heckuva lot of food to put in a little raw tiny 30ml pouch sweetie. Think about it, you put 4 ounces in a 1 ounce pouch. Ouch. But, as you saw, the body said But you know what, it takes practice, practice, practice. You will learn, and just so you feel better, I still dump to this day. Sometimes it's just because I eat too fast, and sometimes I run across something that I thought would agree and doesn't. Nature of the beast. Be glad you do it. It is actually a blessing. It is what keeps me from grabbing the goodies I would have gorged on before, because let me tell you when you have your first real good dump, I mean the one that keeps you curled up an a fetal position for a long time wishing it would just stop...you won't ever eat that food again. And if you do...well you deserve the dump I guess! Also...you are probably trying to do too much too soon. Just like John said... RELAX. One or two short little walks a day are suffiicient right now. Making yourself sore is only going to impede your recovery. Don't even try to do what Earl did. He is a freaking idiot I swear, but I love him anyway. Remember that your body is trying to heal itself on barely life sustaining calories...overdoing it is just going to create more problems. Being up moving around the house is good. You are going to burn calories just walking to the mailbox at this point, so don't think you have to do this marathon thing right away. You have literally been stabbed a numerous amount of time, and your gut has been rerouted, you are dehydrated and starving. One ten minute walk in the afternoon will do your body wonders. I had a horrible time just getting around the house let alone take a walk. I actually didn't start taking walks until about two weeks out. So you are doing awesome kiddo. You don't have to prove anything to anybody here, or yourself. Now... go plant yourself on the couch with your buddies, take your pain meds and reeeelaxxxx! Val

True! True! True! When are you going to become the offical program coordinator over there already! That position is just so perfect for you. My surgeon reads this site for a fact! Although I doubt he gets ot he gets to these boards. Im sure he reads the Maryland ones. He told me he saw my name all over the boards. I do post a ton too. I agree with you. Bariatric Surgeons have given us this wonderful gift! I would never want to take away from that. I would never blame the surgeon for the mishaps on the floor. He was wonderful.. beyond wonderful.. a true patient advocate. His bedside manner was so good too. My profile is long and wordy in general. Has all sorts of even non WLS things in it now. I am starting to feel guilty taking up the OH bandwith. Kind of like a this is the real me page but with tips too. I think at some point I am going to convert it over to a web page with sections. That way if anyone wants to find stuff more easily they can. I like doing web pages as a hobby anyway. Might be a nice little relaxing project when I am home. Anyway, about the surgery day entry in my journal.. I think I did a good job turning it more positive and made it more patient friendly. I'll save the specific detailed constructive criticisim later. It will be constructive too. I promise =) I'll leave out specific names of nurses as well and go with more general observations.
