Hey all.. I am so glad to find this board..I have been thinking about buying a treadmill. I have several reasons: the cost of gas to and from the gym, the accessibility during the winter months and the sheer fact that I love to walk and had a lot of success with a previous treadmill....here is the thing, I already have a nordic track, total gym and a leg shaper...but I haven't been able to use them due to my size right now. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Treadmill vs joining a gym?? I have been riding my bike outside but soon, after my surgery I won't be able to do that for a while I assume and want to make sure I am exercising. Oh, I noticed quite a few are from Cols too...GO BUCKS!!!! Jenn surgery date 10/26/2005

Just my opinion.... I would look into signing up at a gym for a trial membership that doesn't cost anything and see if you like that first. Most gyms you can go to for at least 1 workout and some 1 month to 30 days. Worse case scenario you pay for a day pass a few days in a row. For some people the classes can big a big motivator and in a good gym its nice to have pros around to ask questions as well as experience get to experience more variety. So many great things to try out at no matter what size you are today. What is most important is that you do something you enjoy and that you do planned activity consistently. When you stop enjoying it then just keep on going right along and find an alternative or add some new things to change up the routine. If you think you like the treadmill better after you try out the gym then go for it! You know yourself best and whathn will motivate you to keep getting back on that treadmill or in the gym. Good Luck!

Welcome fellow Buckeye. I am in Hilliard. The previous post from Earl and Stacie gives great advice. Like Earl said, check out the OSU support group. I had my surgery at BTC in Groveport but I felt very welcome at the OSU support group meeting. Good Luck.BTW, I belong to the YMCA and like it because I travel and there are YMCA locations everywhere. They also have Yoga there.
