Bye Bye Gallbladder?
Everything has been great lately but it does seem I have a gall bladder issue that was probably present well before surgery. They just didn't catch it on the Ultrasound or even on the Cat Scan. This week I had a more in depth nuclear medicine scan called a CCK-HIDA and it showed a motility issue with my gall bladder. Gall bladder motility disorders can be associated with some cases of chronic cholecystitis also known as a long standing inflamed gall bladder. Dr. Kligman has not seen the results yet. I just peaked since I am in IT and had the scan done at Mercy where I work. I'm going to fax him over a copy today so we can talk about next steps. Not sure if he is going to want to take it out or just see how my new diet impacts the situation. Sometimes issues like these can just be managed with low fat foods. Hopefully I won't need more surgery right away as I am just getting back in the swing of things. I do have some mild pain though on and off. It has slowed me down getting back to the gym. I'm just not sure if I should try to work through it or what. I'll talk to him about that too.
Those can be painful, Kristie had hers removed years before, but it is common for us to have this problem (or at least some problem) with our gall bladder's. I hope it can be resolved for you. I was on Actigall (bile thinner)for 9 months after surgery in hopes of not developing stones, so far so good.
Talked to my surgeon tonight. I just told him the results. He had not had a chance to read the actual report. Based on that he is thinking about removing my gall bladder in 6 weeks or sooner if I get a bad attack.
It's really going to be up to me and my pain threshold. He did say that with removal there is an 80% chance that will get rid of the pain and that it isn't 100%. We didnt really get into the working out conversation. I need to follow up with him. I need to find out if it is safe for me to just push through the pain or if that will do more harm than good.
Tonight happens to be a bad night. I ate some of the gourmet cheese crackers - 1 serving that has 6 grams of fat. Well it seems that set my gall bladder off. It isn't a tradtional cracker.. just like baked parmesan cheese. (http://)store.bariatriceating.com/gochcr.html That is the last time I eat those again as long as I still have my gall bladder. I have an ice pack on my side and took some liquid tylenol so hopefully that will help.
My surgeon called me again this morning. He is just so good! Going to wait the 6 weeks and see how it goes. If I have any pain he will fit me right in for the procedure. So sometime in July.
I was told all exercise is fine by my primary and it won't have an impact on my gall bladder. He called me too! Also another great Dr. He gets the results of all my studies here at Mercy so he is always good about follow up. I run into him in the halls around here every so often and he always says hello. Nice that he remembers me. He agreed with Dr. Kligman's assessment of waiting the 6 weeks and encouraged me to get it removed if I had any pain at all.
No pain today =) Going to see Star Wars tonight and go for a pleasant walk around an outside mall area. Tomorrow if I have no pain again I will go to the gym and test out a 20 min cardio session and keep it at a moderate heart rate.. 130 - 140's.
