I ran 6 miles Wednesday. I had a awesome upper body workout yesterday. Tonight I have Yoga. I am seriously considering running a mini marathon later this year. I wont win the race... but I will be the only one that had WLS Who's up for a 15K (9.3 mile run)??Anybody want to join me for the fun of it?

Ask me next year and I will! This is a dream of mine. It would be fun to train with a goal. I'd love to pick a nice location and make it part of a vacation. Sprint Triathlon or Duathlons would be fun too: richwoodwv.com/triathlon.asp pacificsportsllc.com/SkyBankTriathlon/athlete6.htm changeofpace.com/body_ncalifornia_triathlon_calender.htm HOT!!: trifind.net/INT/Caribbean.html US List of Races: trifuel.com/races/Triathlon/United_States/index.php Here is a "couch to sprint" tri training program - beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=51 Lots of other good articles: beginnertriathlete.com/cms/index.asp?catid=59 Congrats on making a decision to do it! That is wonderful!! This is some pictures from the triathlon Dana ran: stacyndana.photosite.com/races/

Awesome job! I gotta hand it to you runners! I just am not built for it...now give me a barbell and some plates and I am in heaven baby! We will cheer you on from the side lines and hand you gatorade as you run by! They have a half marathon every year in Columbus. Have you ever heard of that? I think they do it in April. Val

Not much of a runner, although the triathlons look cool, I am a good swimmer and bicylclist, maybe someday. You are rockin it john, let us know how you do.

Mikee - The sprint tris are a great way to start. If you like to bike and swim you can do them. Check out the Couch to Tri training program. It looks pretty reasonable. Matter of fact the Osprey Sprint Triathlon here in Maryland that Dana did I saw a lot of beginners, seniors, kids, all sizes of people taking there time and having fun. SWIM .5 Miles - BIKE 15.2 Miles - RUN 3.1 Miles.. very reasonable. Some people just walked the run portion. The hard part is swimming in the open water. Nothing really can prepare you for that even if you swim in open water. You get kicked a lot from other people around you and just need to watch your space and make sure if you are a better swimmer to try to get ahead as much as possible and away from the slow or crazy swimmers. I noticed some people even just got up and water ran at the end. Another good thing to practice if you want to take it more seriously is the transitions. Going from water to bike you need to make a quick change. Lots of people have shoes hooked into their pedals and it can be a pain to get out of a wet suit if you are wearing one. Its good to dump a ton of powder in their so it comes off more easily. You also need to get use to the dead legs when you dismount the bike and start to run/walk. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for your legs to come back to life after the swim and the bike.

Very cool, not serious yet, but who knows, that might be fun to talk my son into doing with me.
