Impaitence....UGH

What do we do with ourselves when we run out of paitence on our progress? I'm trying very hard to remember that It took time to gain all the weight I have and that it's going to take time to get it all off, but I feel like "I'm so close - but still so far!" I keep getting reminded that muscle helps to increase metabolism and cardio helps to burn fat.....and I do work on both my cardio strength and my muscle mass....but I'm at a wall that I can't get past! I've finally gotten below the 200lb weight mark - but the "honeymoon" phase of the weight loss is coming to a crawl and my head is still in the "it won't take any time to get the next 5 lbs off" - then it takes 3 weeks!!! I need to remember to focus on my every day goals and realize that the long term goals will get closer with each passing day....only I'll get impaitent again.... Any thoughts on what you guys to to help keeping you focused to get to the end goal? I don't have any "real" goals of being a "power" lifter....though I'm pretty good at what weights I do lift. The only "weight lifting" or Exercise goals I've had is to become an instructor...and I'm in the process of that with my AFAA test now being behind me. I have two more certificates that I'm wanting to go for and that's becoming certified in Body Combat and Body Pump as an instructor. I have no paitence......NONE.....I got in the "abundant looks" line twice and skipped right over getting in the paintece line when all of that was being passed out!!!! I'm rambling......I'll stop now......thoughts and ponderances are welcomed!

Rambling is ok here You are doing fine, I am right there with you. In fact, until I stopped looking at pounds and started only looking at body fat% and lean body weight I was freaking out. I have only lost 10 pounds of body weight in the last few months, but I have increased my lean body mass and reduced body fat by quite a bit. That with the changes in how I feel and look makes up for it, but it is still hard sometimes. I too am going to have to "work" for the last pounds I have to lose, but that is ok with me now. I feel so damn strong and healthy, better than I did 20 years ago. Put the blinders on and enjoy the health you have obtained for yourself so far, and know you are in control, IT IS AWESOME AIN"T IT.

Hi Dee Dee I keep saying the same thing. I didnt gain up to 302 lbs overnight and it is going to take awhile to get it off. Im trying to learn patience, after almost 4 weeks I think I should have lost more than 20 lbs. Im just focusing on staying positive and giveing it some time. I cant offer any words of wisdom since I am just beginning, just wanted to say hello and let you know you have done fantastic!!! I can only hope my journey will be as good. Sandy

Hey Dee Dee - I agree on using bodfat % over pounds. The scale can drive you insane. As I get further out I plan to just get my BF done every couple weeks to a month. I also agree with Earl on the goal setting. It is so important Check out this post. It's on an old fitness msg board I ran and it talks about where to start with goal setting. Taken fom Bill Philips: http://p073.ezboard.com/feqpowerfulbodiesandmindsfrm4.showMessage?topicID=1.topic excerpt: "Goals come from dreams but it is important to understand the difference. When you accomplish a goal it helps your dreams become even more inspiring, which in return creates even more goals, and desire. When you begin the process of setting and achieving goals, you immediatly begin creating grander dreams. And that creates Optimisim, which feels pretty darn good in case you have forgotten. When you are optimistic you can't help but focus on the future. It's just so exciting you can't wait to get there. Set goals that are ambitious yet attainable. Find an example of someone you want to be like. Someone who was in your condition and take a look at what he or she was able to achieve. This gives you proof that it can be done. Read your goals often and practice eliminating doubt from your tone of voice. Don't discribe your future success as something you "hope" to achieve. Picture it as something you will absolutely accomplish. " Your doing great and an inspiration! Thanks!
