Stacy's surgery is over and she's doing great!
Hi everyone, this is Stacy's Husband.
She is finally (13 hours later ) in her room -
She had a good surgery that went from about 7 am til noon. She had a small air bubble at the end so the fixed her up with a drain and that seems to be fine they will check it again tomorrow.
She was in a a lot of pain (she can be quite a drama queen so don't worry) She was saying her pain was the worst ever but falling asleep right after, so they kept her in the ICU for quite some time. She was moved to her room and was settling in when we saw her.
Her mom and step dad came down to see her for her surgery which was nice so I had some company all day - though we were going a little stir crazy by the end of it.
She looked 100% better when we saw her in her room before we left, hopefully she sleeps well tonight and is feeling way better tomorrow. She probaly wont be walking tonight but I assure you she will be tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone that was supportive to her and what not, I know you have been great to her and for her.
Anyways,
Have a great night,
Dana Kielty
Thanks for the post Dana...we all really appreciate it. When she's not loopy tell her we are all thinking about her and praying for her!
Tell he we are expecting her to start her workout when she gets home!!
(NOT)
I bet she is sore, that's a long surgery and with the extra repairs she's gonna be tender. Make sure they get her up and moving tomorrow (I know you will) and give her a (((gentle hug))) for me!
Thanks,
Val

Dana, that first day is the worst. She will be just fine. She needs to just keep pushing the pain button.
I plead the 5th and I dont remember a thing.. Ok maybe a few bits. I have little snippets from recovery that came back to me. Really weird stuff. Sounds like I was being a drama queen. They didn't end up needing to do a hernia repair after all. However, I did fail my first leak test on the OR table. As dana mentioned, an air bubble rose up. Dr. Kligman pulled my parents aside and informed them of what happened. He didn't sugar coat it. He said he has seen it so far in 22 cases but in all cases the patient was fine. Sounds like it would have been scary to be in there shoes. Glad I was asleep!
At any rate, as Dana mentioned, they put a couple of drains in and that seemed to do the trick. Also spent a ton of time in Radiology the next day. They kept taking lots of films. Being on the table was horrible. I got jerked around a lot when going from the standing position to laying. The stuff they used mixed with the crystal light was pretty nasty. They had me drinking a lot of it... too much for my swollen pouch but it was necessary. Two radiologists and two techs worked on me. It was a lot of back and forth back and forth. Scan me, look at pictures while I wait, scan me again. I think 3 times total. A student was there as well who was out of this world. She was so so good to me. Kept bringing me cool cloths and massaging my head to help with the nausea. I guess I was looking pretty flushed. Then eventually they sent me back up to the intermediate unit and said things looked good. As soon as I got back up they made me come back down again for a 2nd round of flims. My guess is that they were looking to make sure there wasnt any sign of that leak. This time I didnt have to drink anything. Anyway, I got the all clear eventually and have been fine ever since!
