acared, angry, frustrated, and still feeling sick
"wuegiuti3yr92yr982y982tyr982!!!!!@$@$@^&@!"
That's me saying a bunch of curse words.
I'm still sick and having pain. The pain moves too. First it was mostly my right side. Then late last night it was left. Now its right in the middle.
My primary called me and said that my upper GI series shows things moving slow and fluid which could be a sign of an obstruction. He is going to see me today at 2:!5 and they they will probably want to scope me.
I CANT BELIEVE THAT I AM ALMOST 2 WEEKS AWAY FROM SURGERY AND THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!! I know this is out of my control and nothing I can do. I also know if it were not for the fact that I was having WLS I may have just chucked this all up to a somach virus (which it still may be). I'm glad too that I am getting good care. I'm not going to lie though.. I AM INCREDIBLY UPSET RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! I'm just trying to hold it together so I can get through this morning at work and stay calm so I don't make things worse. My dad had stomach cancer a few years ago so of course that is at the back of my mind as well. I'm so tired of having health issues. WLS gives me a light at the end of the tunnel.
ahh thanks for letting me vent
Ok, you're goona do just fine...keep breathing...ah Brad Pitt...Jude Law...there ya go.
Look at it this way...it may get you surgery sooner than later. If there is a problem they can maybe combine surgeries and do it all at the same time. You may have bought a ticket to an earlier flight ma'am!
Hang in there, everything happens for a reason.
Hugs,
Val
VENT ANYTIME!!
My PCP says if I had a BM then I don't have an obstruction. Does that make sense? He said he didn't hear a lot of bowel sounds and was thinking my stomach is just sleepy or slow and timming is off. The Radiologist mentioned my stomach being slow as well with the upper GI series so maybe he has something there. My PCP wants me to see a GI specialist at my hospital. Problem is the office is now closed and I am still in so much pain. I'm going to also call Kligman before I do that and see what he thinks. As I was walking out the door he also handed me an xray script for my abdomen. They just did it about 30 minutes ago and put it in as a wet read. My Dr did not order it stat but my friends in Radiology saw how much pain I was in and pushed in through. I'm actually sitting in the lobby of the hospital waiting to see the report. If it does show something I am going to page him myself. Im pretty sure he is gone for the day now too. It would be crazy for me to turn around and go home just to have to come back. He did say he would have me to an EGD but he wants the specialist to look at me first.
Yes, actually. If you were obstructed higher up you would not be passing stool at this point and really be sick. I wouldn't leave just yet, especially if you are having that much pain.
Definately call the surgeon and let him know what's going on. Pain is not good. Sluggish bowel sounds in and of themselves are not critical, but when coupled with pain it can be worrisome. Don't leave in that kind of pain or without an answer one way or the other.
Hang in there!
Val
Thanks Tammy. Just got my Radiology report back.......
"There is a rather nonspecific gas pattern present. No significant air distended small bowel loops are noted and no free air is seen. Advise Abdomincal CT if clinically indicated..."
Soo.. I have gas! Well hopefully thats is it. We will see if Kligman wants me to get the CT, do an EGD, or have some glucose testing. I still have the numbness from when I woke up this morning in my left leg but the pain in my stomach isnt as bad as it was yesterday. Hopefully the numbness is just because I slept funny on it.
Ok, well you know how to spell relief right?
F A R T !!! LOL
That's reassuring anyway. I am glad there is nothing serious involved, but you know gas pain can be nothing to joke about...some really serious hurtin' going on.
I would just start taking some gasX everyday. It will help you out anyway and won't hurt.
Take care, and avoid the beans.
Val
Hahaha... Trust me.. no shyness in this household. I can't remember gas every being this bad. Maybe this is a test to see if I can handle the gas after surgery!! I will take your advice on the gas x. I also took some tums tonight and that seems to be helping my tummy as well. I've had some reflux issues lately too. It must be all the excitement of the surgery combined with the barium and the long hours/stress at work the last few weeks.
My appointment went really well with Kligman. He wants to see the flims tomorrow from my upper GI. He will probably scope me since we have a couple more weeks before my surgery. I'll probably get that scheduled sometime later this week or next week. He will do it himself. He said he actually enjoys scoping patients!!. He had me giggling most of the visit. He is truly Mr. Personality
