Feeling awful

I've been feeling so awful all week since that Upper GI series. I thought maybe it was the barium or those fizzy crystals making me ill but its been a week already. I took a laxitive last night to see if that would help so of course I feel even worse today. Ive had a lot of pain on my right side and lower back on and off and my stomach is so bloated. Also just burping and super gassy. Post op I could understand this.. but pre-op? What the heck is going on? Maybe I have some sort of stomach bug or something. I see Dr. Kligman on Monday so if I am not feeling better by then I will let him know. If I have some sort of bug or infection in my body maybe it will show up on my pre-op lab work and he can give me something. My surgery isn't until the 19th so if something is up that should give me plenty of time to take something to kill whatever is in my body and still be able to stick with my date. Hope every one is having a good weekend!

Stacy, don't wait until Monday if you are feeling that bad. Sometimes that barium can solidify in your gut. I would hate to see you have a blockage and end up with problems from that. Laxatives can actually make things worse in certain situations, and please don't do an enema unless they tell you to, ok? Call your doc today. Don't wait. A week is way too long sweetie! Sorry you feel so icky. Take care of it. Don't put it off. Hugs, Val

Its a shame the Radiologist didn't tell me that in the first place when I called him back! I wonder if that is what happenend. A week is too long. I'm actually feeling better now and don't have the pain in that one spot but staying very close to the bathroom. Things seem to be moving fast now. Ive been drinking a lot of fluids. Had some soup, herbal tea, english muffin and that seemed to help too. If I get that kind of pain again I will call my Dr. or head over to the hospital. Hopefully I won't ever have to do the Barium again. Don't they have some alternative to it that you can take? Thanks Val!

Well you know they aren't the most people friendly people! That's why they work in radiology. I am glad you are feeling better. But if the pain does come back just go into the ER and let them know. Keep pushing fluids and as long as you are passing gas and having BM's you should be ok. But pain like that can be an idicator. Nope no other alternative. Sucks. Take it easy...won't be much longer now! Hugs, Val

Thanks Val. Ya.. but my rad people are great. They treat me like a VIP since I solve all their IT issues =) I do think the good Dr. mad a bad call though based on what you said. I think I could have had something stuck but now I have no pain in that spot anymore just feeling bloated again. If it comes back I will go to the ER. Now it seems I have the reverse issue probably from the laxitive or maybe a stomach virus. Would a laxitive upset your system for more than 10 hours? I also had a mild asthma attack after I got out of the shower about three hours ago. No clue what could trigger that. All I was doing was taking a hot bath. That has not happened since the last time I posted about it. My right side of my throat has swollen glands as well. I've got to have some sort of bug attacking my system. No fever though so I will just wait until Monday to pop over and see my PCP unless I start feeling worse. I just had some ginger ale and sipping water. I'm going to try going to sleep for a bit. Ya.. counting the days. Hopefully my labs will all turn out ok or if they do find something then hopefully they can treat me right away. I want to be 100% healthy when I go into that OR.
