Hi! I only posted a few times back in January. I stopped posting after I found out I was pregnant and became more active on the post-op pregnancy forum. Last week I had a miscarriage at 10 1/2 weeks. I'm trying to stay positive and I have good days and bad days. It will probably be a couple of months before I get the okay to start trying to get pregnant again. I want to get back to my working out and see if I can't drop some more weight by then. I need help in the protein area. I have a busy work schedule and I take a long photography class on Thursday nights. I need good portable ideas. I have some of the power crunch bars and they're okay. Problem is, I can't find a decent protein powder. I've used Precision Protein by EAS, but I only like it mixed with Myoplex Lite. I tried Nectar protein, and I can gag it down if I have to. Any suggestions about a decent flavored protein powder or something to mix it with that will cover up the flavor would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jennifer

I am so sorry for your loss, my wife and I went thru that, time will make it better. Good for you to keep trying, and you have a positive outlook. Protein powders I have found that I like are; Whey Fruity, Designer Whey, and this other one that is just called 100% whey black label. Isopure is awesome, and they make pre made sport drinks with 40G protein. Bars I eat are Avid, they are a soy isolate, whey isolate and cassein blend and taste like a payday with 24 G protein. Day by day, hang in there, and good luck, stick around here.

I'm also very sorry for your loss. You are staying in the right frame of mind. I like using nitrotech and a few others but what makes it yummy is that I end up doing a lot of different types of mix-ins - frozen berries, natrual peanut butter, sugar free syrups, cocoa powder, SF puddings, etc.

Thanks Stacy! I never thought about the sugar free syrups, cocoa powder or pudding. I love Jello sugar free chocolate pudding! Thanks for the suggestions and your support. Jennifer

Thanks fo much Mikee for your kind words and advice. I'll give those protein powders and bar a try. Anything that tastes like a Payday sounds good to me!

Hi Sweetie! You don't even need to ask. You are always welcome over here. As an OB/GYN nurse, and a woman who has lost a pregnancy, I am understanding what you are going through. You have a great outlook, but I know there are going to be rough days. I kept telling myself, and I firmly believe that your body has a way of knowing something just might not be right. Here's a big hug ((((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hang in there! I am gonna have to pop over to that forum to see what the scoop is, we are just now seeing a new influx of post wls patients getting pregnant and this is such a new area, especially with nutrition, etc. We are trying to educate the OB docs about a lot of things. Now, for the protein thing...I use Hood's Carb Countdown milk. I mix 1/2 chocolate, and 1/2 fat free with one scoop of unflavored whey protein. It has a tolerable texture, you can't taste the whey and it's isn't overly sweet. It rounds out to be about 35 grams of protein. I am adding glutamine to mine, but that is because I am training hard core to compete right now. You can add unflavored whey to anything. I add it to yogurt, I make pancakes with it ( I also use the hood milk and egg substitute too), and instead of using syrup I use peanut butter and make a power proteing sandwich instead! I hope those help. Take care, and by all means you just come back anytime! Val

Thanks Val! You really should drop by the post-op pregnancy forum. As a mother, an ob nurse, and a post gastric bypass patient, you'd be a big help!!! We'd love to have you!!! I've gotten a lot of good information out of my hubby's maternity nursing book from a couple of semesters ago. He will graduate with his bachelors in nursing in May. I'm so glad all this school is almost over. He already had a bachelors in criminal justice and it wasn't good for much of anything. He's going into surgical intensive care and then maybe the ER. His preceptorship is in the ER of a level 1 trama center this semester and he loves it! I really appreciate your support. My hubby and I had gastric bypass one month apart, so I'm especially motivated by you and your hubby doing it together. We enjoy working out together too. Hope to be seeing everyone a lot more. Thanks for everything! Jennifer
