It finally happened!
It finally happened.... I have been having pain on my left side near my ovary. (I have PCOS)
I went to the Dr today and they said my ovary is 8mm(3inches) in size. That is huge. I also have 2 cysts that are 4mm(1 1/2 inches) in size. It sucks! That is 6 inches of stuff that isn't suppose to be there!
I am going to have to have surgery some time soon to have my ovary removed. They wanted to take everything out but I told them no!!!
I don't want to go into menopause now...before I have my surgery!! NO WAY!!! I have not been lifting because every time I lift it pulls and hurts.
This sucks!!!
But we did win our volleyball tournament! LOL I really hurt now but tonight was our playoffs for the big prize.....A T-Shirt!!!! LOL I am just a little competative
Sorry to the men if this is too graphic......just let me know and I won't post girlie things.... Have a good night
OH BTW STACY....I would love to come to a post op party!!!
Thanks for letting me vent....Tammy
Hi Tammy - My girlfriend went through this as well. She did end up getting just the ovaries removed and left everything else in tack but later had to do back to have a 2nd procedure and do the full hysterectomy.
I would probably make the same decision as you. I wouldn't want everthing to come out unless absolutely necessary. I'm stalling going to my OB/GYN because I'm hoping to have the surgery before dealing with any other issues that may be resolved with the WLS.
Most of the women in my family have had a hyesterectomy prior to menopause. It does stink but between having a good diet and medication it sounds like they are tolerating menopause issues fairly well.
My mom also takes a few herbal remedies that she says also helps.
Gratz on winning your volley ball tournament!! YEAY!!
Once again I should be hearing more today if I am going to get approved for my WLS ... hopefully!!
I'm still off from the gym today. Have an awful cold still. My husband as well is still sick.

Tammy, If the Doc wants to take it all out...let him have it all. Sound like you will be back in there again down the road if you dont
Tammy,
I am glad you feel comfy enough to vent. They guys will get over it. They usually just ignore this stuff anyway.
Ok, this is coming from an OB/GYN nurse, and a post hysterectomy patient.
I think you should consider your doctors advice. If you only have one involved ovary, they can leave the other. But, to be honest, if you continue with the way you are you are going to have a serious rupture and the possibly end up with peritonitis. That, my friend is dangerous. I think I would want to be in the best health possible for your wls. Trust me, you won't miss them that much, and hrt therapy has changed quite a bit over the past few years.
I was fortunate in that I had fibroids. My ovaries are ok, so I still have those, I can understand your concern. But stop and look at the big picture here. I saw that you have A LOT of kids...holy cow, what like 7? So, you aren't missing out on having kids, but why would you want to continue with this kind of pain for years to come? Get a second opinion if necessary, but trust me on this, doctors anymore do not jump to the knife as the first solution. If they feel surgery is the necessary treatment, then it most likely is.
Ok, nuff soap boxing here. Take care of yourself. Get healthy!
Oh, and btw YOU GO GIRL ON THE VOLLEY BALL TOURNEY!!!!!!!!!!
I am extrememly competitive so I know how you feel! I was planning on competeing in August, but there is one coming up in March, and it has got me droolin' a little bit to go just for the heck of it.... hmmmmm I want one another trophy to wear like Earl....
Hugs,
Val
