Consult Update
Went really well today. I met with the NP for a half hour. She is a character and we had a great time talking. Dana came along with me to the visit. I made my nutrional consult for 2/17 and am awaiting a call back on the psyc consult. Dr. Schweitzer says that April is a realistic expectation for the surgery and that I am an ideal candidate. They will submit everything to BC/BS in the next week. He said turnaround time for approval can take up to 4 - 6 weeks. I only talked to him for a few minutes. Pat had already answered most of my questions and I have done so much research already that I know exactly what to expect.
I weighed 278 today. My height is still 5'4. Puts me at a BMI of 48. My BP was higher than it has ever been.. 148/100
I think part of it might have been the sugar free red bull I had in the am. Usually it is more like 140/90. My pulse was high as well.
I know! Dana said if I was his client he wouldn't let me workout without a Dr's clearance =( I'm also taking allergy medicine as well - claritain. I hope its that combo with the red bull and excitment that had it go up and that it is not that high normally. Going to take it again later today. It is just more encouragement not to go nuts while I await surgery with the food. Did you guys do a lot of "wow this is my last time I am going to be eating this for a long time if ever" kind of thing. Last night we went out to dinner after being at motor vehicles for 5 hrs. That of course put us both in tired, cranky, hungry moods. I ended up ordering ribs that came with fries and we got loaded potato skins for an appetizer. Not good. Will only make my BP worse. I am going to try to focus on dropping some weight as best as I can prior to the surgery. Back to eating healthy today and getting my fluids in. Headed to the gym right now too!!
Have a good week all!
Red bull could be the thing, it is hyper juice, I could not take Claritan before for that reason. Kristie and I could not do the "Last meal" thing, we both had to lose weight prior to surgery to comply with hospital BMI limit, we were big kids. I look back, and I am thankful, because I would have last mealed myself dead, or at least 20 pounds, instead of losing 25 and hitting the ground running after surgery. I think doing what you are doing is great, eat right now, and exercise, the momentum will take you far.
