Hi All
Hi everyone, I have been lurking for a while now and decided that I should begin to contribute. I am post-op (lap-band) of 3 months, as of Jan 1, 2005 I had lost a total of 5 lbs. I initially lost 15 right after the surgery but gained 10 back. However, that was the past no point dwelling.
I did some sole searching and realized the I was using my surgery as a fix all and realized that was not going to help me reach my goals. So As of Jan 2, 2005, I have refocused and began and workout program.
I do 1 hour of some sort of aerobics every day(Sun-Sat), I do weights on M,T and Th,F.
I am happy to report that since I started my program on Jan 2, 1005 I have lost 8.4 lbs more and and decreased my Body Fat Percentage by 1.5%.
Just felt like sharing, Thanks for Listening
Hi Robert,
You are right - the past is behind you and focus on the future.
Congratulations on the loss and re-focusing your efforts.
I've always been told this surgery is only a tool - it provides 50% of what I need, but I've got to supply the other 50% through behaviour changes, exercises and modify my food intake. I"m still pre-op for another 4 months or so, so I've a while to go before I have my tool
Glad you posted and keep us informed on your progress!

HI!!! I know I said welcome on the other post, but daggone it I will say it again! WELCOME!!
Awesome job on the loss and % drop!
I am really glad you shared that on the board, because I think a great deal of people have that misconception. This is a tool. It doesn't fix your life, it helps you lose weight. If the weight loss gives you the self confidence and self esteem back then that's what you build from. Seeing that someone else has been there and done that will help a lot of people Robert. Kudos to you!!
We're here to support and help ya! So you keep on fighting the good fight and we'll be right here with ya man!

Robert:
Hi there, I too am a lap band patient, July 6th, down about 35lbs and I am in the middle of a major refocusing project. I have had fills to 2cc and still can manage to eat a fair amount of food. It's no miracle cure. My expectations were not in proportion to the reality that it STILL will take hard work. With the new year I have made a promise to myself to make this work and acheive my goals both weight loss and fitness.
before my surgery I had dieted off 50 to 80 lbs at a clip, run 2 marathons, worked with weights, only to gain back all the weight and more... My focus now is on running, using my eliptical and doing some core exersizes, I was also going to investigate some boxing classes because in the past I always felt that a boxers workout was very challenging and I have a secret wish for killer arms that I think heavy bag work would give me.
Congrats on your current weight loss, feel free to e-mail anytime
All the best
Patty
