I love my new routine

As I posted earlier, I went from my split routine back to full body routine. I do more "compound" exercises(bench press, squat) and very few "isolation" exercises. Right after weight training, I do 20 min of hard cardio. I know that it's working because I am feeling sore. Not the bad "sore" but the good "sore".....we all know that good "sore" feeling you get 1-2 days after good workout. It tells you that you nailed the workout!! My wife is doing the same routine and really getting into it. She carries her little black log book to the gym....she says its a log book...maybe she is getting phone numbers of all the body builders.....lol....I went to my second Yoga class and really liked it. Yoga and Pilates will be part of my new program. I am doing less cardio ....but that is ok. It the spring I will ramp up cardio and start running outside again. The gym is packed!!! I just laugh ....because is a few weeks...I wont see these people again until next January. I should not be critical. At least they are trying. Earl, I tried to call you yesterday, I wanted to get together since you were off this week. Good luck with your Bodpod test on Saturday

Good Morning. I like full body workouts better as well. We usually do 5 exerices in a series. Each exercise for me is usually 12-15 reps. Then repeat the same five X2. We usually do 2 - 3 series. If 3 the last series is just 3 different exercises - ie- back extension, abs exercise , abs exercise. I love yoga and pilates. Both are so relaxing. Pilates is new to me this year. The class we go to is a beginner pilates and it is wonderful. Some of the moves I can't do so I have to modify them but in the end I feel very refreshed - almost the same feeling you get after a massage! This is a good site and article on styles of yoga - http://www.abc-of-yoga.com/beginnersguide/yogastyles.asp As a beginner I found it really helpful to do some of the moves using the yoga blocks. Several years ago I spent a week at the Kirpalu Yoga Center in the Berkshire Mts of MA. Website: http://www.kripalu.org/ I've been hooked ever since. I would love to go again! Maybe as a reward for when I get to my halfway goal point.

I call that the "feel good pain" It's great. Funny, I never imagined I would find myself liking any kind of pain, but it's addicting in it's own little weird way. Ok, I am going to hoist the mail sail and head out to the gym. Last I heard, I had no way home from this area due to flooding...hmmmm This oughta be fun... PS I told Earl you had called but it was really late. I wasn't going to check my answering machine because appartently my kids had already listened to it, so the light wasn't blinking, just happened to check on a whim! It was late and we try hard not to call people after 9pm for fear of interupting sleep, or "whatever" Teenage girls...you gotta love'em. Neither one bothered to tell us you called!!! It's all about them you know.

Val - How old are your girls? We have "fur-kids." 2 shelties that keep us busy -Daisy & Dr. Seuss. I'm pretty sure my weight has caused fertility issues over the years. I hope we can get pregnant a couple years post WLS. One of the reasons I held off on this surgery for a while was due to wanting children but I came to terms that after eight months of trying and gaining another 30lbs I didn't want to take the risk. The overweight risk placed higher on my scale then the older age risk. So if this happens that means we will start trying when I am 36. My husband also has MD so that is another consideration. 50% chance of passing MD to our children. The good news is that the type he has is a very slow progression and the other three members in his family (all 50+) that have muscular dystrophy are all still mobile and high functioning. We will revisit getting pregnant again after my weight is stable. Both of us have are open to adoption at that point as well.

My girls are 14 and 15. I also have a 19 year old son who doesn't live at home. I also have a cat, a ****atoo and a parakeet! Plus Earl, that makes for a household!!! Obesity and infertility can go hand in hand, for example polycystic ovarian disease. I would imagine it would be a huge concern for passing MD on to your kids. Sounds like you all have some big decisions and soul searching to do for sure! I am glad your husband is doing as well as he is, and his family as well. Adopting is always a great option. My cousin and his wife adopted two wonderful boys, and they have grown into terriffic young men. My husband is a better father to my kids than their "sperm donor" ever was. Biology doesn't make a parent that's for sure! Love does. Hang in there. I would definately deal with the wls first, then go from there! Keep us posted on your progress!! Val
