During this holiday season I let myself go and ate all kinds of junk. I rationalized this behavior because I was exercising......WRONG..... I gained a few pounds over the last few months and figured it was extra "muscle mass" from lifting.......NOT..... A good weight training program needs to be coupled with a good diet. I did BodPod test today and found that the extra pounds were fat not muscle mass. The following is today's results from the BodPod. Weight 203.69 lbs. Fat weight 32.3 lbs Lean body weight 171.4 Percentage of body fat 15.8% Previous test August Weight 201.92 lbs. Fat weight 30.5 lbs Lean body weight 171.4 Percentage of body fat 15.1% Previous test February Weight 206.81 lbs. Fat weight 40.8 lbs Lean body weight 166.0 Percentage of body fat 19.7% Men body fat rating scale is as follows: Men >30% risky Excess fat 21-30% Acceptable 13-20% Lean 9-12% Ultra lean 5-8% Risky (too low) 40% risky Excess fat 31-40% Acceptable 23-30% Lean 19-22% Ultra lean 15-18% Risky (too low)

It isn't hard to do is it? You know I tell myself everyday is a do over! So, you know what you gotta do... now do it! I really need to get that bod pod thing done too. I am very curious to see what my composition is. SO, the goal for women should be somewhere around low 20's?...I know when I had the composition done a few years ago it was definaly above 40%...ooohh can we say "porky" geez! But, at least we are on the right track now...2 or 3 years ago I wouldn't have cared at all. Now, I have a whole new lease on life and I am gonna hang on to this as long as I can! "ride it till the wheels fall off"!! Martin Lawrence.

Val, Low 20's would be a fantastic goal for women. Go get tested and share your results online....I know how women love to share their weight. Ask a guy how much he weighs and he will give you a straight honest answer. Ask women and you will get a slap in the face

I will have to do that, and I will tell you that my weight fluctuates between 145 and 150...I am proud of that! Now, 2 years ago, you might have gotten "verbally slapped" but not now! I will definately share my results. I am really curious to see how it comes out. Like Earl said, I think I am more like the guys than the gals, only I look better in short skirts and heels! Most of my best friends were guys, they are MUCH more fun! More fun to weight train with too, because I can cuss and hollar and not feel out of place.

John, I am just getting started working out and I was reading older posts and noticed you mentioned a BodPod...what exactly is this and where can I go to get this done? thanks Brenda

Brenda, A BodPod machine measures the amount of body fat. It is very accurate. They have them available in most cities. Call the local gym and ask them where you can get a BodPod test. Don't settle for a caliper test or an electronic scale test. They are not accurate. Here is where I went to get my fat tested http://baselinefitness.com/Body_Composition.htm
