Hi guys- I'm not about to run out and buy anything just yet, but am seriously contemplating getting myself a machine for aerobics in the house, to avoid the weather related excuses I am bound to cook up. I was just reading a thread on the main board about the Gazelle and people seem to love it- I wanted to hear what you all say, though! What do you think of the Gazelle? (the one with the increased resistance option, of course) How about an elliptical? (brand and model suggestions would be great, thanks) My Dad is keen on the Nordic track...but...I'd love to hear what you guys think. I am likely not going to get a treadmill...I thought the knee saving feature of the gazelle/elliptical options would be better. Any other suggestions?

I have never heard of the Gazelle, but I loved using the eliptical at the YMCA. Sorry I don't know brands at all. But I loved the burn from the eliptical. I wish I had a treadmill. I love those things too.

Thanks guys. Val, I love the burn too. Like I said, I'm not sure at all what I am going to buy, nor when, (nor where the heck I would put it ) but I think it would be great to have something in house. I looked a bit more at the Gazelles online (it's kind of like an elliptical, I think) and the "Elite" one is apparently the best one, has resistance adjustments, etc. Have a great weekend!

Sorry, I am late to reply. The elliptical provides a more natural movement which so far I have never tired of. The Gazelle is another faddish piece of equipment such as that old crunch thingy. The movement is similar to the Nordic Trac which I found a bit hard to get used to. The more natural the movement the more "familiar" it is for the body...and the more likely you will stick with it because you will be comfortable. Also, the elliptical is very easy on the joints. The Gazelle is also, but folks have a tendency to pull muscles with the Gazelle. There is potential for an over-stretching (during the scissor movement) and over-usage of the inner thighs. Yeah, I know us ladies hear something about the inner thighs and we just "have to have it". But users will find themselves significantly sore which means after a few weeks motivation will take a nose dive and it will start to collect dust...in a year or two it will be in a garage sale. How long have the people who speak highly of the Gazelle owned or used it? Money spent on a GOOD elliptical is well worth it. If you want a brand name of the one I prefer (at the gym) I will get it to you at a later time. Kym
