Good question! I have an addendum, if I may.... how much protein is needed (I have heard 60 g/day?) and how many calories (~600?) if I want to (a) lose a LOT of extra fat and (b) add some muscle while, of course, exercising and lifting... Maybe I should have waited for tuesday?? ;) ~Annie

I was told by my suregon that for my height of 5'4" I need to get in at least 80 grams a day...So I do at least that and it has worked in helping me shed my weight fast and consistently...I am four months out and down -80 I was told that most people reach goal between 9-15 months out. Ok but I only have 60lbs more to lose to be at my goal weight. Hmmmm, guess I'll be a SKELETON by my 1 Year Anniversary on 02/12/2005 ~Butterfly~ 280/200/140

Ok my turn. First...how do you guys get so much food in!! I can not eat the volumes that you do. And as for the "snacking" you know that you really need to do more than the 3 meals a day right? You really have to have some sort of intake at least every three hours to keep your sugar levels even to avoid to many ups and downs that cause hunger. Keeping the muscles constantly fueled is what helps with the building the muscle mass. I am really pressed to get enough protein in but here goes: Breakfast, usually an EAS Advantage Edge shake 15 g of protein, usually takes me about 1/2 hr to get it in, or some of Earl's power pudding. I also have my little concoction called power pancakes. I mix 1 c of bisquick with 1 scoop of unflavored whey protein powder, the use Hood carb countdown milk with 12 g protein, 1 egg that totals about 32 grams in mix. I can usually eat one medium sized pankake. I sometimes dip it in sugar free syrup but my favor is to divide it in half an put peanut butter on it. YUMMY. Of course I have to get my coffee in too (I'm with you there on that vice Mike...I gotta have my fix!) Mid morning is usually some cottage cheese and fruit. I make strawberries with splenda. It makes it's on sugar free "juice". Lunch is usually chicken or tuna, or sometimes I get soup. I usually eat about 4 crackers with either. I like Wendy's chili, or I will get a grilled chicken sandwich and just eat the meat out of it, maybe about 1/2 of the breast. Mid afternoon I like to have some cheese/crackers or peanut butter and crackers...love my peanut butter,or yogurt. I do eat a great deal of yogurt, dinner is usually some type of meat and a veggie. I like to have a sugar free ice cream bar or sugar free ice cream for snack and at bedtime, some type of protein, usually my power pankcake with pb or some cheese again. i work hard at getting my fluid in all day, either water, coffee or I am doing this whey protein drink from GNC that I like and that is about 40 grams of protein. So, I think I am doing ok with my protein intake. Sometimes I also drink a glass of the Hood carb countdown chocolate milk. It has 12 g in 8 ounces. But my intake volume isn't really that much. Everyone is constantly on me on my intake amount but I can not get any more in and I am not forcing it either. I feel good, and I am doing fine. I eat slowly too. Whew, that way painful to type out.

I don't know Val but they are "MEN" like that has anything to do with it I can barely do the 6 small meals without FORCING myself to get in each day!! So how the guys do it I really don't know anyway when you WEIGHT LIFT you so burn a lot of calories & fat as you know so I guess a person can get hungry!! Butterfly
