Nourishment Pre- During- and Post- workout

Hello all, I am pre-op and I work on and off on a consistent/inconsitent basis (2-3 weeks on, 2-3 weeks off due to scheduling and family demands-trying to get better though!) First please know you're feedback has been great. Many of my concerns have been asked and addressed (muscle mass, loose skin, workout day dieting), thank you all very much! My concern is eating around and during my workout. Right now I'll do a pack of peanuts or banana immediately before and after my workouts (I did try the Body for Life plan, don't much like it- going back to the Testosterone Advantage Plan (excercise regimen) from Men's Health) as well as a bottle of Gatorade (and fountain water) during the workout. The concern is, I've read that too much sugar can make you dump, so does anyone use any other alternatives-to-water for hydration during workouts (I sweat heavily). Also, I anticiapte that a whole banana will likely suffice for BOTH the before and after workout snack, any other suggestions? I suspect I will need to use something with serious protein content but I don't like protein/energy bars nor shakes (right now anyway, they say your taste changes after surgery) ... Finally, how long after surgery did you begin exercising (more than just walking) and how far out do you change the emphasis from aerobic training to weight training (or do you just wait until you plateau?) Thanx in advance for you responses, I'll be checking in... japii
