Post OP with Piercings!

ok here it goes.. Retainers! There u go that's ur answer! I had my labret retainer in the day of surgery - Surgeon said he didn't care it was up to the anesthesiologist. He the anesthesiologist said "he didn't care as there was no way I could swallow the piece". Or he could have me tape it b4 I went out.. ( have a nip piering too but I had it for about 6 yrs and it wont go up unless its 3 weeks or more ) This is what I did to ensure that. The normal piece that u put on the inside.. I put that on the out side and put the O ring inside real tight.. so if I did swallow anything I would just swallow the O ring. Woke up in recovery with all my piercing.. all ok.. and the surgeon's assistant made it a joke when she saw me in my hospital room. By asking if everyone was ok.... Pointing to my lip... retainers can get gotten on Ebay or at the mall - Hottopic/Clair's/Spencers ECT -

I have a tounge peircing and went and got retainer for it at a local tattoo/piercing shop they only cost 5 dollars and all plastic and small and dont wiggle around!!! Better than paying the money again to get it done again!!!! renea

I have a tonuge piercing and I am not concerned about that closing during surgery but I have my nipples pierced also and they close very quickly even after almost 3 years. I dont know why....does anyone know if you can have acrylic barbells in during surgery?? as long as there is no metal? I will ask my surgeon when I see him tomorrow for my upper gi but just thought i'd ask here! Thanks hugssssss Krista

If ur using the barbells for nips just tape it down. Rings maybe better so they wont get snagged on anything.. Remember u are naked LOL. For Tongue eh thats iffy it depends on the one putting u to sleep.. and u will be on a ventiliator or at least thats how I was told it happens. Yeah if ur surgeon is anything like mine.. he will listen and be understanding. Hope it all works out for ya.

My good friend just had surgery, not wls...but he has six rings in his toung and they made him take out every one, except the one in the webbing under his toung. The only hole that closed was his nipple ring. He is a piercer soooo he redid it, no big woop. I only have my earrings and nose ring. I had a belly ring done a few weeks ago, but desided to take it out because I knew they would want it out for the surgery. I will get it redone...OH YEA I WILL GET IT REDONE! .. the only piercing I was able to keep in was my tongue ring. I've had it in for 10 years now. I am able to go about 3 days without it closing up. I lost my nipple rings. I had breast lift with implants put in, those babies had to come out. I'm ready for the breasts to heal completely (only 6 weeks out) and I'm getting them redone for sure. My navel I took it out years ago cause I had to it got ripped out. However, with my new belly button my plastic surgeon is going to repierce it for me I was wondering if he'd redo the nips too Jamie open rny 10/01/03 plastics 03/18/05

ok I have had my tounge ring for 10 years I chipped my tooth right before my daughters birth and said f**k it and took it out then a year later I decided to see if it ever closed.. nope never did so I put a barbell in it just I use plastic balls to keep from chipping my tooth again. Weird huh how some it closes right away some never does...

hey there, yes it is weird...i have had my tongue ring for about 6 years and if i take it out for 10 minutes, i have a hard time putting it back in.... it sucks, but i have 18 piercings, i take all the ones out that i can, and leave the rest in, i havent had a problem before, so i am hoping i wont in 24 days either amanda
