Had a good week. 2 week followup with my surgeon & nut on the 5th. Labs were good, my injections are doing their job. Dr K released me to add soft foods to my diet; exercise at Planet Fitness avoiding any core work & no more than 15lbs free weight; and stop crushing my pills which is great as I add all my vitamins back in this week.
So happy I got this surgery.

Here's my weekly:

next goal 189
I was up a bit this week but already see the it's reversing, my actual weight is much lower today. When I look back over my intake for last week it's 90% related to what I ate, 10% related to fluid retention. Though I'm always tempted to not track the 'bad' stuff, I force myself to. It helps at times like this where I needed to reasses how I've been eating.
I was annoyed with myself because I didn't want to go back to the nutritionist list still weighing the same, but then she needed to reschedule my appointment, yes!! Two more weeks to make my 189 goal.
My exercise goal for this year is to move up to 5 mile runs, gradually. I've been doing 3.5+ Miles, so right now my goal is 4.0 miles + cool down time and build in that.

Welcome!
I think the only way to make a decision like this is to do everything you can to be as informed as possible about what you are committing to. Read these forums, watch videos on Youtube, read and research and read some more. For me the information session at the clinic did very little to influence my decision. Reading forums such as these and hearing directly from people that are living the lifestyle was far more informative and motivating. Spend some time here and I'm sure you'll start to identify with a lot of the people, stories and situations. It is a unique environment that many of us don't have in our real lives; people who really do understand, not just those who may try to understand. Whether or not surgery is right for you (or which surgery is right for you) is something that only you can decide but if you are willing to put in the work I wouldn't let fear of the surgery itself hold you back. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Christine

Welcome to the boards! Spend time reading everything you can. If you can't find an answer to a question, ask.
This is a supportive community and they will tell it like it is.
I've written about this a few times, but The reality is the complication rates for other types of obesity related surgery are higher than weightloss surgery. Heart surgery, joint replacement, gallbladder removal etc. not to mention the complications from diabetes, high blood pressure too. And I'll add in earlier detection of many cancers.
WLS isn't a guaranteed cure or prevention for any of the above. But, reducing our weight lowers our risks and puts us in a better position to deal with other health challenges as we age.
All that to say, it's normal to be afraid, and unsure. It is major surgery. It's just important to keep the risks in perspective.
Keep posting!

So my traditional kryptonite week is officially over. I was kind of allover the place on the scale and had some major water retention but The dust has settled and I am up 2lbs- still within my maintenance range. So that is good.

I am going to warn you will get the question at the consultation if you are still losing... they like to see you stabilized ... in my case I was losing 2-3 lbs a month for awhile, he hedged a little but was obviously OK with it.
