Hello everyone!

This morning marks 3 months since my surgery. (this is where I admit to disliking the word "surgiversary", I just find it weird)

I'm feeling strong, I feel an increase in my confidence, my energy, my mood... the list goes on. This mornings weigh in was my lowest to date and puts me at 46.8 lbs lost post op. There have been so many great NSVs so far but I think the thing that effects me most is just feeling like I take up less space in the world. In car seats, at the movies, on the couch or in a crowd, I'm just so much less self conscious and it's nice to just live without thinking and worrying about all the little things that used to fill my brain.

This week I added another 71 miles to my virtual walk and I have really made daily exercise a priority. I'm enjoying it for physical and mental reasons. I feel stronger physically and mentally it has given me more 'me time', more time to think and I come back energized and ready to focus. I backed off on the Zumba a bit this week but added more resistance training. I enjoy feeling like I have options and going forward the variety will make me more likely to stick with it.

I was reflecting back this morning and realized that since I got serious about losing weight (this time) just after the long weekend in July I'm down 123 lbs... in less than 8 months. It made me quite emotional. It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day and the scale frustrations, and adjusting to the new normal but we all need to stop once in awhile and take an impartial look at what we're achieving. Be proud of yourselves. I'm proud of me. We are accomplishing some amazing things.

Have a great week everyone!!

Christine

Glad to hear that you're enjoying and benefiting from the Fitbit, I know it has had a huge influence on my daily activity level.

It's awesome that you're still having such significant weekly losses too! Congrats!

Hello, everyone! I've been MIA for a bit, because work is crazy, family is crazy, trying to get brother into rehab, mother needed a break from caing for disabled father...my life has just been nuts. Also, we're buying our house from the grandmother who owns it, and it's just a bundle of stuff that I don't want to deal with right now. BUT, even though I've not been here, I'm still on my journey! I will admit that there have been more than ideal amounts of carbs at times, but I'm staying on track. I have officially lost 100 pounds!! In 4 1/2 months! Squeeeeeee! I also have gone down at least two scrub pants sizes (from a snug 5x to a comfortable 3x), and I can fit comfortably in restaurant booths again! So happy!

I was surprised by the scale this morning. I felt like I had too many calories for most of the week. I think it help when i got my fitbit because i could see how lazy i was. Ive been moving more.

Hi there and welcome!

I'm sorry to hear that you don't have insurance any longer and hope that you will find a way to get it back.  Are you eligible for Medicaid or have you looked on the healthcare exchange website to see how much you would be paying a month to get insurance through the Exchange?  If you can't get a full time job with insurance, maybe try researching companies that offer benefits to part-time employees... I think Starbucks does.  Just a few suggestions.

Also, I was a BMI of 55 when I started and I completely understand the depression.  I have been overweight my entire life.  I have tried every diet twice and could lose weight but gain it back quickly.  Surgery was a huge life change that I needed to occur to get me on the right track.  I've put in plenty of work on my end but the surgery has been an invaluable tool.

I agree that you just need to research, find out what you can do and make a plan to start working toward the goal of surgery.  Even though I had insurance, it took me 2 years until I had my surgery from the first time I went to a meeting to learn about it.  It's a lengthy process for most (mine was especially lengthy because of a move to a different state and my own issues) so even if it takes you years to get the surgery, set your goal and start working towards it. Good luck, hun!

That's great! I might be delusional, but I kinda see plastics as more like a spring cleaning purge, or cleaning up,after a reno. You have a nice home, you just need to get rid of this clutter to be able to appreciate it, and get the most out of your space.

You should be proud that you've  done/ doing the work and have a healthy strong body. Now you get rid of excess skin, tighten things up. And enjoy it!

insert joke about hosting more parties...

Thanks!!  I'm super excited and super nervous.  An OH friend who has gone through this offered to meet up with me for dinner after my consult and I'm grateful for that.  I imagine it'll be really great to have someone who has gone through this to talk with afterward, since I figure it'll be a bit demoralizing to stand naked for a stranger and have them tell you everything that's wrong with your body :P

I had a really great week!  Yesterday my scale was actually at 166!  Lowest ever :D  Many small goals work much better for me than trying to focus on ALL the weight I need to lose.  I mean, I never would have thought I'd get to 166 when I started this.
