Hello
Did you have to lose weight before surgery? I was told I need to lose 50 pounds before surgery .
Hello!
My name is Rachel, and I am new here. :) I am just (re)starting the process after chickening out/having a mini breakdown before getting surgery previously. I have known my surgeon for a long time, and I have complete trust in him and his team. I am going to make it happen this time. I look forward to speaking with all of you, and working towards our goals!
What's the Ideal BMI we should maintain for knee surgery. and what would be the best practice to reduce it?
Well, I will suggest you go with XL size I am a 6' feet tall and XL feets me well.

Hello I'm new as well , I'm Melinda I started my journey Nov 2018 and i think I am close to getting surgery but we have to decide on which one to do. I wish you the best in your journey and remember it is a life changing decision. We something in common my pcp was against the surgery as well and things changed and now the doctor is on board. So Good luck on your journey and hopfully we can find out some of the answers that we may have along the way. I have faith you are going to do great.
wow thank you for sharing, how have you been doing since the surgery?
Referral-10/30/2018, Orientation-January/30/2019,
for me it was my medical situation kept getting worse and worse. i had cellulitis in both legs, they were weeping, i was having to go to wound care every week, i was on oxygen 24/7, 2 blood pressure meds i could hardly move. i knew if i went much longer i would either be in a nursing home the rest of my life or else dead so i decided to have the weight loss surgery.
i started the on-line seminar with the surgeons office in july of 2017 and didn't have the gastric bypass surgery until september 13, 2018 but it was well worth the wait. i have medicare and they had alot of stuff i had to go through before i even had the initial consult with my surgeon. i met with my pcp for 6 times to talk about diet, i had to have a psy eval, meet with a dietician, blood work and then since i have asthma i had to have a pulmonary clearance plus a cardiac clearance. both my surgeon and pcp kept me informed of what was going on. i am not the most patient person and so i just wanted to have the surgery now but i had to tell myself that it took many yrs to get this overweight and i will be ok waiting. i started out at 345 and in 5 months i have lost 105 lbs. i am not on oxygen or a c-pap anymore and i am so much happier now.
