Topic: I have a surgery date at last and support for arthritis sufferers

After rejections and appeals to the insurance company that took close to a year, I got approval and a surgery date...May 9. Then the totally unexpected happened and I found out that the new arthritis medication I am starting, remicade by infusion, which my arthritis doctor had me take April 28, means no surgery for 4 weeks after. So surgeon cancelled my surgery in May and rescheduled to June 1st. Maddening delay but only 3+ weeks!!

I have some unknown form of arthritis but it is like rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. Now I am having trouble walking much and suffer knees bone on bone so I eventually need knee replacement, but no doctor would operate on my knees at my weight of 300 pounds.

Anyone else have similar problems and how are you feeling and resolving your situation??

Hi guys! Congrats on 150 Erin, that's awesome!

Being back to work has been great for me mentally and physically. I was so anxious about everything but it's been going really well. I start at 6 am though so it's been a challenge to stay connected on the daily menu threads but I'm hoping that things will normalize a little soon and I'll be able to make the time more easily.

I'm going to put a big old asterisks beside my weigh in this week, I don't think I have as good a handle on my new routine as I might have hoped and the scale was all over the place this week. My activity level has increased quite a bit and I don't think I'm keeping up with the fluids as well as I should. I'm drinking 120L+ a day but I'm noticing some signs of dehydration and I've been battling bathroom issues again.

Aaanyway, here goes...

HW- 386

LW- 227.7

TW- 222.3 *

Next goal is low weight of 220 (saw 220.9 this week which was briefly cause for excitement followed quickly by the realization that yep, I'm dehydrated...) ...then the long trek to under 200... insane. I have added a mini goal in there just to break it up of 209.8 which would be 100 lbs since surgery.

Have a great week everyone!

i was one of the fast loser. BUT i want to say does not matter if you started at a higher number or a lower number. it is all about the work that you put into it. I am proud of myself and the success stories that i read on this blog. I agree with Laura that it is always inspiring to read of the hard work people are willing to do to keep the regain monster at bay. I do want to be here in 10 years writing about the work i have put in to continue to make this wonderful tool i have a success.

so please jealousy is not what i think of when i see a tag where someone weighs less then me, or started a different weight then me. I say more power to you. You are a rockstar!!!!

RNY best thing i ever did for myself.

thanks! And yes - that's what I thought, too - what a rude thing to point out. I'm also female, older, post-menopausal, and lost 57 lbs pre-surgery - all factors that can affect weight loss rate (i.e, slow it down!). If he was comparing me to younger people - or males - well yes - of course I'd lose slower. Jerk!

I would just like to say you are awesome! Your preserverence should be commended and still losing after 3 years is total dedication! Please don't take anything away from your amazing work by comparing. You have the makings for LIFELONG success. I'm not a fast loser but i'm not slow either and i ride the wave...i know i need to be able to ride the wave with more maturity if i want to make it in the long haul...some people who lose weight fast also tend to get discouraged fast (imo)...that's a slippery slope. Keep doing you! You are inspiring!

Wow, that was kind of rude of them! There's a reason for the saying "slow and steady wins the race!" Looks like you did it, so they can go jump in a lake! Congrats!
