Okay so I am 4 days after surgery. I had the DS performed and am super sore still! But i am trying to wean myself off of the big pain meds. I have some questions.
As of now I am required to take a scoop of powder vitamins provided by my doctors office three times a day. This is already becoming imposslible and makes me gag just thinking about. I know I have a few weeks until I can take the actual vitamins but i was curious as to what vitamins everyone else who has had the DS done? I know my Doc office is only going to suggest their brand, but there are other brands out there that work better or just as well?
different phases of diets? Right now I'm on "phase one" post op diet which is all liquids. I did 4 weeks all liquids before the surgery as well, so I am dying for actual food! I know I can do it but as far as phase 2 can someone tell me what a sample menu for that might be so I know what I can look forward to? lol
I am still recovering and adjusting to this new life style but tonight was New years eve and I really am saying new year new me and MEANING IT THIS TIME! HAPPY NEW YEARS and thank you in advance.
cross posted.

Hello! I had my surgery on the 28th and came home yesterday from surgery. I am struggling slightly getting all the fluids down but it is getting better. When I woke up in the hospital this morning I was throwing up a nd sick to the point my doctor wanted to keep me another night. Luckily I hit a huge turnaround and was able to get 39 oz's in pass gas and have a bowel movement. So they let me go home! And I can not believe how great I feel compared to yesterday and this morning. Is this just a phase? Will I have any other bad days? My mom got the RNY a week head of me and her healing process seems to be different than mine. Don't get me wrong I am SORE but I do not feel miserable like she seemed to at this time. I'm hoping to keep up with the speedy recovery seeing as I have classes starting in less than 2 weeks. But yay for. Successful surgery! I am keeping my self off the scale till the 2 week appointment like suggested. I did cross post this.
Quick couple of questions:
- Does anyone else have painful burps when swollowing?
- Sugar free fudge pops? I know we can have sugar free Popsicles but do these counts? Didn't know if this was okay or not. I hate the texture of jello nd have never been able to eat it so I'm trying to find something else I can enjoy as a treat.
- Tips or tricks and what I should expect? Tomorow is 4 days after surgery and I want to be as prepared as possible.

Congratulations on a great job! The truth of it is we have to keep our head in the game... ie. stay focused. What you wrote shows that. We don't have the luxury of being unfocused. Someone wrote on here onetime, - don't fall into the trap of thinking you are normal.-- so true. Good Luck!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! We are almost through the final horse of what I call the "Four horses of the Eating Apocalypse" (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas,New Years) Hahahaha ...
Good for you all who posted last week.... I was in Florida for a few days with friends and came home on the 23rd.. it has been holiday madness. I am a -weigh myself everyday person- and I will say their has been a lot of fluctuating with being away, parties, holidays, cookies, special foods.... etc. Can't get yourself crazy over it though. Saturday I got back to exercising and trying to get the food back on track. Wednesday is my official weigh-in day and I am OK with today's number even though it didn't start with a one.
Highest weight ever: 420+
Highest at surgeon: 383
2 weeks ago: 199
This week: 200 (right on the money, no decimals)
Pre-Halloween I was 206. So showing a loss over the holidays is wonderful.

Does yours talk to you from both sides? I get talking from the pouch and from the old reconnected stomach. Noises to the right of me, noises to the left of me.....

Hi Laura,
You sound like a very focused woman. One "out of the norm" meal is okay! It sounds like you have resumed the patterns you established which is what makes the difference. It sounds like you are doing great!
Happy holidays,

Congratulations on your new job! This sounds like a great way to start 2016. It can be helpful to have additional focuses apart from food. This is something I noticed to be helpful for the many people I work with. If this is the case for you; WAY TO GO!
Happy holidays!
