Good morning! Thankfully, at least for me, vacation weight is never "real" weight - it tends to all be sodium and fluid retention. So it should come off quickly :)
My week was full of ups and downs, but I think it ended up in a good mental space and with appointments on the calendar that should get me to a more stable place. Just having those appointments made and a game plan makes me feel better, in fact.

Hi Y'all,
I echo this post 100%. Yes, you CAN!
My highest weight was 394 at 5 foot 2 inches. I had RNY surgery in October 2010.
My current weight (range) is 142-146. I did not reach this for 6 -SIX!- years post surgery. Of course most it came off in the first 2 years.
My surgeons hope was that I would lose and maintain weight loss to 180. I was not in a panic to continue losing beyond that. My anxiety was more about gaining it back.
I keep close tabs on my weight for other reasons, beyond regain. All I know is that if I gain weight back, I will know this time. No more avoiding the scale for 3 months figuring there is no hope anyway. There is hope. You CAN do this.
Please believe Gwen B and me and countless others who know you deserve this. Yes you. Even you. =)
Never Never Give Up!
Hi all,
It sounds like February is a tough month all around. I think it's that month where we start to crave spring, and emotionally need a break from the humdrum of what we've been doing. I've been finding it difficult to deal with the cold and snow and same old same old lately... and find myself falling into boredom eating etc.
I am leaving for a short vacation to Orlando on Friday so hoping the nice weather, all the walking and the change of scenery will do me good. It will be my first flight in my smaller body and I'm hoping not to need a seatbelt extender. I'm also hoping to fit on all the rides at Universal. I'll know soon enough!

Thanks for kicking us off! I did not fare better than you in any way, shape or form.
I am in Vegas for work now. Make of that what you will. It's actually easy to eat protein forward, but you know...vegas... the challenge is there is something to eat literally every 5 feet.
I also don't have a scale for the next week....
Stats:
HW: 378
LW:161
TW: 1 million pounds, maybe,
Goals: not to come back from Vegas in the obese range.

Good morning weekly weighers!
My week was all over the place in terms of eating and I think I might schedule an "emergency" appointment with my psychiatrist if I can't get my act together this week. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to!
I hope you all have fared better than I have :)

No he didn't go there. The bulking is true- you cannot gain muscle mass without a caloric surplus. Laws of Physics.... You can maintain muscle mass and reduce bodyfat without a surplus. Reality is you mostly likely will lose some muscle when losing weight. Face it, you are not carrying around so much weight, you probably don't need as much muscle. The ratio should be losing way more Fat to muscle though.
I had gotten to the point where I was losing all muscle and gaining fat. Alarming.
Nutrition guy's Dad actually had RNY, so he wasn't totally clueless. And he was telling me I need to prioritize protein again...duh. Not duh on his part, duh on my part....I actually really liked talking to him.
I never want to pretend I know it all, I have said many times I feel like a human experiment. I think the rules of weight loss are pretty universal. When you get into maintenance, everyone has to figure out what works for them.Maintenance is far from universal. This is all about healthy and not just skinny.

I love that body composition thing! I don't know about you, but I do find it difficult to change our mindset.
because it's true, you might have an smo brain, but do not have an smo body. And that means that getting to your next goal requires a different intervention than what has worked so far.
but I will say I often get antsy when I think about the way "fitness people" talk about food. Eating back calories, bulking etc.
