Highest Weight: 350+

Program Start: 328

Surgery Weight: 299

Last Week: 160 (stretch goal)

This Week: 158

New super stretch is 145.

Took two of my nephews to Six Flags this weekend. It was awesome not having to worry if I would fit on the rides. No pitying looks from the staff. I had one ride that was close to humiliating about 10 years ago so I haven't even attempted them since. It was a great day!

Have you looked into the DS? With a BMI of 67, I think you should look into it, if you have not already.

I had RNY 7 years ago. It was the right choice for me.

I was at 251 and every doctor I had told me to do it and they all signed forms for my surgeon they all said the benefits out weighed the risks.  I've lost 51 pounds very fast, YES do it...  I have no regrets, also, I never told anyone I was doing it, no one, not my parents no one, except one best friend. .....  Just Get E'r Done!!!!

No haven't heard of that. The malabsorption doesn't last forever, and with either surgery it is important to keep up on your vitamins because you aren't going to get all your nutrients with the smaller quantity of food.

So interesting week this week...here's the good, the bad and the ugly. Trying to find my happy place in maintenance, mostly been fluctuatin around 178, with 175 as my lowest. All good.

Had my breast and arm surgery on Monday 5/2....peed 'like a racehorse' as they say Tuesday and Wednesday so figured my water weight gain wouldn't be bad. I know it can happen but bariatric surgery and first round of plastics it was minimal. Got on the scale Thursday AM and up 10lbs from day of surgery. What???? Even though I know it is water weight, freaked my little bariatric brain out. Same on Friday, then down 5lbs this morning. So hoping it is a quick rebound back to normal. Not going to post stats as this is too weird a week.

Yes I would do it again. I lost weight many times on my own, but this is the first time I have the confidence that I can keep it off. Not to say it won't take work, it is work...but well worth it.

People with high BMIs get both surgeries. I chose RNY because I knew I had faithfully restricted my diet at times, and still not lost any significant amount of weight. I wanted what I saw as the advantage of malabsorption to get me on my way, realizing I also needed to establish new habits.
