Welcome! I am a daily weigher, it works for me...and I record once a week....but you can't let it rule you...just teach you... if it is going in the wrong direction for too many days it makes me reevaluate what I am doing.

I am doing well, my energy kicked back in yesterday, and of course I did too much :). I remember you saying that before about your surgery and your metabolism. I am trying to find my 5lb 'happy range' for maintenance. I figured I'd lose a few with surgery...just because, well it's surgery...doesn't matter what kind. So surgeon said the weight of the skin he took off was one pound, but 'impressive' in volume...hahaha. I really think the 170-175 range is probably good for me. The only place you 'see' weight at this point is my thighs and calves. I did consider a thigh lift but decided it was at the end of my list...so we will see maybe in the future, maybe not...

I was never a hamster person, but certainly a pet person so I understand how hard it can be. Sorry for the loss of a special pet.

They're so loveable and innocent.

When my last hamster passed away, I went two days later to go get another.  I couldn't stand looking at her little cage all empty.  I had a little hole in my heart that I wanted to fill with a new hamster.  I had to force myself to just deal with that little hole in my heart this time.  Now that I know how expensive it is to properly medically care for a hamster if they are ill and how much it is to put them down humanely, I can't allow myself to get another.  I have three dogs and two cats that rely on me.

It was a $88 emergency fee (since this was the emergency hospital), plus $90-something for the euthanasia procedure and chemicals, plus $20-whatever for the cremation (my regular vet does not charge for communal cremation) plus taxes.

I don't think I'll be getting hamsters anymore. I have three dogs and two cats.  I simply can't afford these costs.  Now if my other animals get sick, I'm down $250.  Cats and dogs are expensive enough.

Plus, I don't think my heart can take them dying on me every 3 years.  It's just too short a time.

I had a nice little drop, but now I'm doing the bouncy, bouncy thing.  So I'm going by my last weigh in. My stats so far:

High weight 366

Last week 175

This week 173

Next goal 150's & in the green of a healthy bmi.

Of course!! Welcome!!

Looks like you are doing a great job so far. Honestly, I am still scale obsessed, even 7 years out.

May I join in on this group?  I need to start regulating when I weigh myself.  I'm getting scale-obsessed.

So sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter he was just a hamster, he was a part of your family & losing him is hard. But at least he was loved & lived a good life with his "furever" friend.

Sheesh $250 to put him down & cremation? Sometimes I think they charge that much to take advantage of people when they're feeling the most vulnerable.

How are you feeling? I hope all is well in your healing!!

Post-plastics my metabolism was super-high, but then reality set in and I had to really buckle down.
