For me, I upped my calories around the 17 month mark to stop losing. Right around the 2 year mark, I gained 10. I had to cut back my calories to lose it and then maintain (2500 calories vs 2000 calories). I was a religious calorie tracker back then.

My fitbit average weekly or monthly, I try to enter my weight every morning. It helps me see the whole picture.
I got the Wi-Fi scale that records automatically and links to fitbit. It was expensive...but I love it. It really helps me see the whole picture. See the variation and trends. I looked different ones but I got the withing scale. It is very repeatable and can be used on a hard wood floor or carpet. It also measure my body composition. The body fat % is not very accurate on any scale...but it helps me with my body hydration status. I.e. in the same condition my weight dropped and my body fat % went up - indicates I am losing water... Getting dehydrated.

I have been absent from here for a few weeks... life's been a little crazy. In October- because I weigh daily and record weekly I realized I had gained 6lbs. What is up with that? While there may have been an occasional special occasion ...I knew I was not off the rails. There were a few other non WL symptoms happening as well...and I had an epiphany one night it might have been a medication change. I spoke to the Doc, he had me do blood work, reduce the medicine after the bloodwork and I am going Monday for the results.... After a week of reducing the medicine some of the symptoms are better and overnight I dropped three pounds. So Whew! I think my epiphany was on target.

I mentally rolled my eyes when my husband bought a fancy Fitbit scale. But turns out I love it for the fact that it calculates weekly averages and shows trends. I've seen some people who say their weight only went down the first year or 6 moths etc.
definitely not the case for me. I have a big whoosh, then level for a couple day, then another whoosh, then a swing back up, then tiny little losses that take me back to the low weight. Then it starts again. But looking at the overall trend, I'm super happy with the results.
Ugh. It sounds like a rough week indeed for you. So much anxiety. :/

I have definitely warned my partner that I will excuse myself if I need to. And I can always "go study," the perks of being a college student :D

I don't know if you've seen it, but I use this site called trend weight (link is in my sig below) and it's awesome for tracking trends of weight instead of daily fluctuations. It has saved my mental health :)

So I realized it's been a few weeks since I've posted on the weekly weigh in. I'd been posting my daily weight on the rny menu thread, but the fluctuations were driving me nutty and making me lose focus. I sat down tonight and figured my average weekly weights for the past 3 I've missed (I've recorded my avg weight in a notebook every week since surgery.) I like doing average weight because while the fluctuations can be absurd, average is pretty constant. It's not as bad as I was think it's been

good luck to you all with the family/political drama. I think I lucked out cause I don't know of a family member, in-law or blood, that doesn't share similar political views. Worry not, we're dysfunctional in many, many other ways.
