I know this is an old post, but I'm wondering what you surgery date was, or rather how long it took you to meet this goal? You and I are starting at about the same place, so I'd love to get an idea. Thanks!
Thanks! That's what I love about these boards. It's great to tap into this shared experience. My family and friends are great, but they really can't get it.
I had those same fears a lot in the beginning, but got though them. You will, too.
Keep up the good work!!!

Awesome, Melinda!! Keep it up!!
I was feeling down because on some level I think I want to lose 5 pounds, but really am not doing anything about it. I am at goal, but this past spring I was 5 pounds lighter and liked how that made me feel (my knees are shot and the 5 pounds made a difference).
For some reason, recently my weight seems to have shifted to my boobs. This makes my boyfriend VERY happy, but me, not as much...lol. If I were not so friggin old, I would honestly worry that I was pregnant. Oh, well. Maybe I will actually do something about the 5 pounds before the holiday****

I appreciate all the input. This is a constant learning journey.
Bariatric Programs spend a lot of time teaching you how to lose the weight...they have programs if you regain the weight...but what about maintenance??? Don't they expect anyone to do that?

I agree!! Sometimes our bodies are just screwey. I was just letting you know that for me, and some others have also shared this, around the 2 year mark we had to cut back calories to maintain. It sucks, but it is what it is.
I used to be able to eat 2500 calories a day to maintain, now I eat 2000. Right after plastic surgery I was eating 3000+ calories a day, but 3 months later I had to cut back to my usual 2000. I don't track every day, but just as needed.

That's great! I'm glad it went well! I had a girls weekend, and while there were plenty of wls friendly foods, I was worried about my weigh in. But I also had a good week in the end. Funny how that happens....my first goal has been to get under 300, followed closely by under 290 (when I metmy husband). It's getting closer and closer. I still have doubts sometime about failing at this, but I try to keep perspective and remember that I've already managed to lose more weight in the last few months than I ever have!
have a great week!

I was dreading this weekend but it actually turned out pretty great with my friends and blech with the baby shower and my stupid SIL but that was a tiny part of it. Had a great weigh in today and I'm only 2 pounds from a normal BMI. I can totally do it by Christmas which was my goal!

I am really trying to stay on top of things.... always weighed myself daily...because I know a lot of damage can happen in a week... I only did spot check weeks on MFP during losing because my Doc is not a proponent of calorie counting and For me it had a tendency to give me permission to eat more if I thought my calories were too low.
What I am trying to do now, is do MFP at the end of day so I can see where I have been and may need to adjust...but less temptation to eat more if I see I am having a lower day. Breaking Old WW mentality- 'eat all your food' LOL. ie. starvation myth...
I am seeing the Doc tomorrow about medication...so hoping that gets worked out....
I have done that RMR test done two times that is supposed to tell you how many calories you burn at rest with no activity... both times it came out at 2300 calories...so in theory I should be able to eat 2500-2800 calories without gaining. It is also supposed to be very accurate. Sometimes I think our bodies defy the laws of physics and thermodynamics... LOL.
