My sister needs new clothes, but I don't know how to shop for her and she no longer wants to go shopping due to her size. Can anyone help me estimate her clothing size? She is 5'3" and we just weighed her at 542 lbs. THANK YOU!
Hi, My name is Mary. I weigh 354lbs 5ft 6inch. I was injured 6 years ago and gained a lot of weight. I finally got approved for surgery. I'm in Oregon so it will be OHSU. I have few things to do before surgery... I'm looking forward to it. My question to you is... Excess skin plastic surgery, is it expensive? My insurance says they will only cover tummy tuck.
Hope everything is back on track! I'm currently past my lowest goal weight and might even go a bit lower. Still walking, drinking water, hitting the gym 3 plus times a week, and I added bike riding a few times a week.
As far as my eating goes I've added back in a few carbs but still not many, plus added calories. Really trying to find that sweet spot where I can maintain my weight, just need to balance my protein, carbs, calories.
Liz

This post is a few months old but I am adding to it for those reading it for the first time. (I use the RNY forum most often because it is the more active but sometimes feels like lack of understanding from the super obese viewpoint; my BMI was in the 60's with complete absence of normalcy). The center for weight management I went to had a veteran surgeon who was willing to perform RNY even though I was high risk. Had he performed the duodenal switch, I would have been a willing candidate. I lost over 200 pounds total with regain of 40 due to weakening in the maintaining marathon. I stumble often but keep going with plans to never give up even if it means revision surgery.
Are you seeing a therapist? Lots of people eat for comfort - but there is help!

Hi Trevor - do you have the option of seeing a therapist to help you address the comfort eating?

I drink lots of water too
but I don't take enough exercise and I think that is why I gained a few pounds over the past 6 months.
I weighed 90kg on the 28/02/18 and yesterday 08/08/18 I weighed 90.6 kgs
which was sad but it just reminds me that I need to get a hold of my eating and be more active but I'm also dealing with depression so it is difficult.
Yesterday I saw my GP and he weighed me and as I expected my weight increased from 90 kgs to 90.6kgs which is just over 14 stone.
I want to lose some weight but at the moment I find it hard because I tend to eat for comfort if that makes sense?
I also eat with a degree of anxiety
meaning I tend to buy more food and cook it to ensure I feel full but then I often find that either I can't eat it all and then it goes to waste or I eat it and feel bloated and guilty after but I keep repeating the same pattern again.
Hi Liz,
I'm fairly new although I've been a member since 2003 and I recently activated my account.
I'm trying to lose weight as well but unfortunately, I gained a few pounds over the past few months and I want to try and lose some soon.
I tend to eat for comfort and then I get guilt trips when I overeat and it has become a negative cycle which I want to break but I'm so used to eating to comfort myself and reduce anxiety.
It sounds strange but this is what I'm dealing with.
