Hello everyone.
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. We had a great Christmas with friends and family at my moms house and while there where no kids there it was nice to move around and get a chance to talk with everyone. I must admit I found myself more tempted than I expected to be. Not at dinner because I had a plan for that but during the in between times. My plan to simply avoid everything else was not as well received by my brain as I would have liked. I didn't give in, in fact I was proud of myself because when I felt I might I went to the fridge instead and grabbed a slice of deli ham. I'm already scared of maintenance but that added to the fears of how I'll handle those situations long term. Overall I would say I was successful but it was also a huge reminder that there's still a ton more work to do to prepare myself for the long term. The turkey at dinner was delicious and although I've never cooked one myself before I've decided I'll be trying it in the next few days. I also felt like I was slacking a little on my fluid intake. Not terribly but I wasn't paying as close attention as I needed to. Another thing to work on.
Back on the scale today and I'm inching closer to the goal I set in July to lose 100 lbs by the end of the year. I'm really hopeful I can have a good week and see that goal met but I'm also trying not to get too hung up on it if it doesn't happen. I'm so close I have to be proud of that.

Now that Christmas is over I need to add a whole lot more movement into my day. I feel like I've got myself in a good routine on the food side of things but improvements could be made in the exercise department. I think going forward I'll keep myself accountable here by logging my weekly activity along with my weight. I just caught myself pausing after I typed that thinking "Do I really want to commit myself to that??" but yes, yes I do. Whatever it takes to find the motivation on the days I just don't wanna. Hope you all have a great week.

Hi everyone,
Idont have access to my scale today, but wanted to kick off the post anyway, for those of you who are ready. I will post again tomorrow when I'm back home.I'm not super excited to weigh in though. My calories have been ok and protein is on point. What I'm eating is higher in sodium and i know I haven't been drinking enough water...
hope you are all enjoying the holiday!

my dietitian also told me that a normal BMI was unrealistic for someone who started out super morbidly obese, and I read somewhere that only about 10% manage to make it there, but there are a lot of us on OH who have made it. I can't speak for the others, but getting down to around 200 (give or take) wasn't that hard, and I probably could maintain that fairly easily, but getting down to a normal weight took a lot of work (and will probably take a lot of work to stay here!) - but it IS possible!
yes! I was convinced I was the only person this surgery wouldn't work for!
"over a hundred" is my standard answer as well. No way do i want them to know it's been over 200 - I don't want them calculating what must have been my highest weight. Plus "over a hundred" sounds like a ton of weight to most people - esp those who've never had a weight problem.
Hey guys!
It is Christmas Eve! Everyone just opened presents.
I am finding solice here with my OH friends...
I enjoy reading everyone's posts and the banter back and fourth.
I love reading everyone's mini goals!
While I am not at the RNY stage.
I have been told repeatedly that the Opti fast is not about weight loss. How it is more about shrinking our livers.
My weight loss is minimal so far but I look at my getting out of (decades). Started at 283, went down to 276 at beginning of Opti fast. Now at 265... Just want to pop into the 250s by RNY.
I seem to look at where I was @ 265. Oh yes... that was my weight when my husband died. Just want to get to 240 (the weight I maintained for 15 years).
I am 5 8 in I have a very large bone structure. My weight loss team wants my goal weight @ 190. I am hoping for 175 which may not be realistic. That was my weight at 25. Smoking hot in a bikini. Will I ever be smoking hot like that again? Never!
Age and gravity has taken their toll.
My goal right now is to become healthier and increase mobility.
Day 11 of Optifast....
RNY 11 days

Keep up the great work

IN THE END WE ONLY REGRET CHANCES WE DIDN'T TAKE.
I knew you guys would get it!
There's a funny duality to this journey. On one hand I need to ignore the weight I've lost so far and how much I need to lose still, and focus on the next milestone only. While at the same time, reminding myself of what I've already done, to convince myself I can go the distance.
