HI IM NEW, IM 28 Y OLD AND I WEIGH 498 POUNDS, I AM INTERESTED IN WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY AND I WANTED TO KNOW IF CARESOURCE APPROVES WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY. IF YES, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO BE APPROVED.

You would have to call caresource and check with them to see if weight loss surgery is approved and if they have any requirements like a 6 month doctor supervised diet.

Caresource Ohio requires 9 months of supervised and registered/logged weight loss attempt with a doctor/clinic. BMI of 50, 40 with at least one co-morbidity, or under 40 with 2 co-morbidities. Psych exam, pre-surgery counseling and nutritional education, letter of necessity from PCP, at least 21 years-old, and surgery in a Center of Excellence --- there's more but you will have to get it from their updated information.

Approval takes an average of 6 to 8 weeks after completing all the requirements.
