New here, new to the process - confession time

One of the things that VSG gave to me was the ability to dream the dreams I had never even thought to dream. (People ask me, "does the weight loss let you live your dreams?" And I'm like, "No, the weight loss let me dream the dreams I hadn't even dreamed I could dream!") And a big dream that I've had since VSG is to go back to college. I'm getting my AA in Exercise and Sport Science and then starting BSes in June in Gerontology/Aging Services and Health Management Services.

And the point is, yeah, I'm in Statistics right now ;)

That's amazing, Gwen. I have so many "dreams" aka thoughts about what I will do "when" but I love your viewpoint that it's possible i don't even know what I don't know yet. Thanks for that!

And congratulations for all you're accomplishing!

I could so have written this exact post when I was in your spot. I told no one I went to the seminar...I was terrified. Even when I went through the process of getting ready there were the two voices in my head battling it out...LOL

I had a plateau that started one week after surgery and lasted 3 1/2 weeks. I lost nothing for that 3 1/2 weeks, I was sure I had made a terrible mistake. The Doctor kept saying 'I am not worried you will lose the weight' .... Fast Forward...I did lose the weight, went through many more plateaus, pulled my hair out figuratively sometimes trying to figure things out... But No regrets...

I couldn't imagine the life I have now. I like to hike. I don't only do it...I like it. At 58 I've started running. Running? I thought that was impossible. I LIKE to exercise. I can be there for my grandkids....

Was it easy? No it was work, and I decided if I was going to do this crazy thing I was making it my job... a big part of that is support online and in real life.... I need it daily, that is why I come here.

I do understand waiting to say something... I had a script in my head. Even though I wasn't totally confident of it and had my own questions and concerns... I tried to be careful who I expressed them to. If people think you are waivering they quickly jump on the bandwagon to question you....

Keep coming back, and good Luck!

Thanks so much, Cynthia. I really appreciate all your words and sharing your experiences pre and post surgery. I keep coming "this close" to telling people, but I'm really not ready. I am really ready for the surgery though! The waiting times in Canada are about a year, and I've just started. I'll be working on patience!! In the meantime, yes, I'll be here a lot. I find it super helpful. :)
