I had taken the week off last week for my vacation (which was amazing!) and when I got back I had gained 3 pounds so I weighed myself obsessively daily which I never do. But it was water weight from eating at restaurants constantly because I lost it all within 2 days which is impossible unless that's what it was lol.

Dream goal and holy **** within sight for real goal!!: 149 - normal BMI

I am kind of walking around in a dream right now thinking that I'm less than 1 point away from a normal BMI. It's crazy to me that it's even possible. Which I feel like it is at this point. When it first occurred to me a few months ago I felt like it was an unattainable goal since I started at a 63. It also feels really great to know that I can go on vacation for 5 days and eat what I want within reason - I had lots of seafood and sugar free ice cream, a bite of DH's pretzel, a few drinks of frozen butterbeer, etc. - things I would never have done at home - but it feels really good to know that 19 months after surgery I can do those things and then return home to my regular eating habits and not have to worry.

How is everyone else doing?

Melinda

That's so great! I'm glad you had a great holiday. Your story about returning to a normal routine is kind of something I've been thinking about lately. Other than the actual weight loss (which is awesome!) my favourite thing about this surgery is finally starting to feel in control of my choices. I know I'm still super early out and there will be challenges to come, but just feeling like I get to decide what and when to indulge is amazing.

We went to visit friends in Boston. It was the first time since surgery that I was away from home. It went great. I was always able to eat protein forward, even on the road.

That's so great to be able to travel and still be able to eat how you're supposed to! It freaked me out the first time I was going to do that but it worked for me too. Glad things went well for you and nice job on 5 pounds in 1 week!

Welcome!!

Many of us had smaller goals along the way. Do what feels good to you. Maybe start with 175 and see how you feel when you get there.

Some of the abbreviations we use on this thread are:

HW= highest weight

GW= goal weight

LW= last week

TW= this week

Welcome! Laura covered the abbreviations so you're covered there :)

We all started with a huge variety of goals. I don't know about you but my surgeon never gave me a goal, I randomly picked one! And then I gave myself more attainable tiny goals to meet because those helped me feel like I was doing something achievable. Slowly but surely I met the large goal and exceeded it. Whatever works for you!
