So i just turned 19 and im like 5'1 and i weigh probably 314 witch is sad. I have a bottom stomach witch is the biggest part of my body ! Ive tried walking, to many diets and nothing has worked for me ! I eat lots of baked foods and salads but its like i get zero results! I have noticed the top of my stomach go in but my bottom stomach has stayed the same since i was in the 3rd grade ! I was supposed to have surgery to remove it but i was scared I would get juged even more when i was that age so I didn't get it ! I wish i had ! It gets in the way of a lot of things, i dont even like to go in public because of it ! I cant get the clothes i like because im trying to hide it. I hate it ! It makes my back hurt and i cant walk for long periods of time because my feet hurt like crazy im just so big! When one glance i dont look like 300 pounds but believe me i am! I just want to know what i should do! and what kinda of surgery i should get because thats my last option and once i get it off ut will NEVER come back !

I know that your unhappy about how you carry your weight- but I can almost bet all 314 pounds is not carried in the section of your stomach that you are hoping to get removed. You need to be ready to deal with the diet & exercise that will be necessary to shed the all the excess weight. If you opt to do that through WLS, then I'd table the thoughts about a panniculectomy and focus on improving overall health. You're young!! You've got so much ahead of you to be healthy for!

I had RNY, no regrets at all. I have excess skin, but am living with it w/o issue.

I think you should first start tracking what you actually eat. It sounds like you think you're eating healthy and not losing weight.  That's not possible unless you have an underlying medical condition.

Download an app like My Fitness Pal and start tracking everything you put into your mouth.  Be honest.  Lying to ourselves about what we eat is what made us fat.  Weigh or measure the quantities - don't guess.  Fat people notoriously underestimate how much food they eat.

Exercise is good for your health, but it won't impact your weight loss significantly.  It's all about the calories, unfortunately. Starting off with an accurate baseline on how many calories you're taking in is a good practice to begin now, and continue after surgery.

If you have insurance, see if your plan covers bariatric surgery. If it does, see which surgeons are on the plan. See if these surgeons have seminars (most do). Get information and research doctors and surgeries. You should research vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), roux-en-y gastric bypass (RNY), and duodenal switch (DS). Do not get a lap band. Too many permanent problems with that one and it does not work for 99% of the people who get one, especially us heavyweights.

You also need to know that surgery is NOT magic. You said once you lose it, it will never come back. Not necessarily true. Unless you make permanent changes in your lifestyle, it can and will come back. I am almost 8 years out. I know many people who had surgery the same time as me who have gained it all back.

Your BMI is 59, which puts you in the "super obese" category. Most likely you will not lose it or keep it off without surgery. Do your research and then make a plan. Good luck.

A salad with loads of stuff, even without dressing, can be 1500+ calories just by itself.  Baked food, depending on what it is, can also be bad for you.  I mean, lasagna is baked right?  Use My Fitness Pal and track everything for a week.  Like people said, you are most likely over-consuming food.

As for which surgery, that depends on you.  I'd start by talking to a surgeon about your particular needs.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

If you are 5'1 you really don't need over 1200 calories a day. I'm 5'2 and that is what my Nutritionist recomended. So when I finally stuck to it, and put everything I ate and drank into MyFitnessPal (you can get the app on your phone, its amazing) I finally started to lose weight. (Before surgery)

It WILL help you to log everything. I had NO idea how many calories I ate until I used the app.

Good luck!

I forgot to add... try the Ketosis diet. You can eat meats, good fats, and veggies, as long as you stay away from CARBS and SUGAR! Do not eat more than 40 carbs a day, and it will feel HORRIBLE for the first few days because you will crave carbs soooo bad, but when you go into ketosis, your body will burn muscle and fat for energy instead of carbs. Since we have plenty of fat, we get more energy! I felt great! Just make SURE you get enough protein or it will burn muscle too! Research the keto diet, it worked for me, right before my surgery! :)

You have gotten a lot of good advice. Weight Loss surgery very well may be the best choice. Go to several seminars. You may eventually need to get the excess stomach skin removed, but you will have much better results if you lose the weight first.
