Hi, I'm Sara!!

Not sure where to begin, but I'm in the process of getting ready for a sleeve surgery and don't have a ton of spare time from work to go to my local support group, or know anyone else who has had weight loss surgery, so here I am. :) I'd love to meet people going through/who have gone through a similar experience, even just to pick your brains about the one thing you wish you knew, or wish you had done, before surgery?

Welcome!  I'm just one month post op.

I don't have a ton of advice except do what you need to in order to get the surgery done.  I wish I had done this a long time ago.

Good luck!

Spend some time reading the VSG and RNY Boards. Lots of good advice on both of them.... while there are few differences post surgery, mostly we eat the same...exercise...have stalls etc. etc...- the same.

If there is a specific topic you can search that board while you are on it, or use the magnifying glass at the top to search the whole site.

There is also the general discussion board.

We have our weekly weigh-in post here on the BMI over 50 Board.

I don't think there is anything I wish I knew or would have done differently before surgery. The reality is you can't totally pre-plan everything. You learn as you go.

As you progress through the stages of food...I thought this is easy, then I got to the point where I was adding real food- dense protein. That was a little harder to make the transition.

Eat slowly, chew well, small bites, and make sure the food is moist...dry food, eating too fast, or being distracted while you eat can make food get stuck...and that is not pleasant. It is OK to add a little gravy, sauce, or condiment to make sure it is not dry.

I never pureed my food- just chopped really small and added some sauce/gravy/broth. No baby food for me.
