New Here and need all the help I can get
I am 39 years old, 40 is looming quickly, married to a great guy and I am over 300lbs and short...so needless to say I am not happy. I do suffer from PCOS and have a hard time losing weight. I lately have just given up...I know I should stay away from fried, foods, junk, pop but I am just not caring...I need help. My husband says he will help but if I get mad at him he backs off quickly and he just doesn't understand, since he is tall and athletic...I am just tired of feeling like crap and hiding out but need help...I thought this site would be great especially in finding others that go through somewhat of same struggles!!
Hi Angela, welcome. Most the people on this site are either considering weight loss surgery and researching it, are working on getting approved, or have had it. You didn't mention if you were thinking about that. You are welcome to hang around either way.
Best thing is to spend a lot of time reading other peoples posts and see their responses. Read people's stories. You can search topics with that little magnifying glass in the upper right.
I am not quite 2 years out from my surgery, it has been quite a journey... no regrets. It has been awesome and this site has helped me a lot.
Good Luck!

April 28th will be my one year mark from surgery. Being nervous is healthy- shows you are aware of the potential for good & bad that comes with surgery. I'll say I wasn't nervous, but I was super confident in my decision, my surgeon, support network etc.
First few weeks- take your time, allow your body to heal. Don't rush back to work- your job in that period is haling and listening to you body so you know what does/doesn't work for you. I had pain for the first two week, and it got more manageable as time passed. I didn't have nausea or vomiting, but many do. Remember the experience varies for everyone, hope for the best, prepare for anything.

Hi Angela,
I am new here myself. I can say I feel your pain. I just met with my surgeon today and we actually set the date for Apr 28th, needless to say I am really excited but a little nervous too. I know that what we are about to do is going to benefit our health and we are going to feel sooooo much better. I know what will help me is this forum and so I hope it helps you as well.

Where do you live? Whats your insurance.
Sounds like you need to take a more proactive stance on your health. Your hubby is willing to help-- but honestly, I'd back off to if I were trying to help you and you got angry with me. This is your battles- not his-- he shouldn't bare the backlash of trying to support you.
You asked for a referral 10 years ago and never followed up? I know when I request a referral from my doc- its up to me to contact the specialist and set up the appointment. It sounds as though you've been waiting on a call for 10 years-- that not how this works.
So, if you don't have a PCP now, it will be harder to get surgery. most insurance requires documented history of weight, attempts at loss etc through a PCP. If for no other reason- you need to find a PCP now to evaluate your current health standing.
Being tired of feeling the way you do is a sign that you are ready to do something-- only you know if surgery if surgery would be the right answer.
