Time is Moving Too Slow!!!
Hello all,
Brand new to the community and just had my first Dr. visit yesterday. I'm ready to have my surgery now and get the ball rolling, but I understand the need for all of the prep work. I have spent way more time than I should have reading posts and just can't wait to be one of the people that can impart my knowledge several months and years down the road.
I will be having a RNY in the next 3 months or so, and until that time, I will be hanging out here; absorbing what you all have to say.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences.
I had to wait 6 months so I know how slow that time can seem! It still seems too slow & my surgery is in 2 weeks! Welcome!

Welcome; the ball is already rolling Petetrox! By reading, you probably have noticed WLS is more than physically preparing, it is mentally preparing, as well. I used all six months the insurance required to learn, focus, and practice. Most importantly, I was able to lose 80# of pre-surgery weight. Don't wait, start now: attend support group meetings, practice eating small bites chewing to mush, choose protein foods to eat, drink around 64 ounces per day but not with meals, exercise your heart to make it strong for surgery, and immerse yourself into a healthy lifestyle. Go.
I agree, time is moving too slow, it has me feeling like I'm crawling out of my skin with impatience. I'm 5 months through the 6 month diet my insurance requires, but my Dr. office is still saying late april or early may, which seems so far away. I want to get on with it. The first three months of appointments were helpful, the last one felt like a waste - they asked if I had questions, weighed me and reviewed my food log. It only took15 minutes, cost $500, and didn't seem to matter much in the grand scheme of things.
It reminds me of when I transferred college and there were additional GE requirements at the end of my schooling, I ended up in a freshman literature course my last semester ... I did what I needed to do, but it seemed more about jumping through hoops than meaningful.
I'd like to move forward now! You aren't alone in wishing it moved faster.
