I shopped in Lane Bryant for the first time in i can't remmeber when, and actually bought something that fit. i don't really care for it but it was only $5 and IT FIT!!!
First time poster here. I'm actually not planning on surgery, but I'm starting a VLCD (very-low calorie diet) next Friday. It has weekly medical monitoring and bi-weekly bloodwork, with a 3 hour block of appointments and group discussion every Thursday. For those who have heard of it, it's the Optifast program, 800 calories a day of "shakes" (not really, but you know), dehydrated soup, or protein bars.
Anyway, starting out at 350 today. I got down to 320 last year but then piled it back on with emotional binge eating. I'm hoping that a few months of radically changing my diet on this program will help me break the bad eating habits that have been instilled in me over decades. I will probably at some point go back to my food addiction therapist, even though she's no longer covered by my insurance. I need to wait and make sure my insurance isn't lying about covering some of this weight loss plan first, though, as just the part that insurance never covers is pricey.

Hi & Welcome to the forum! We're a pretty regular group here for the most part. Hope your insurance covers the pricey parts. I never had to do optifast, I heard it can get expensive but I think in the end you'll find its so worth it! Good Luck on your upcoming surgery, will save a seat for you on the losers bench!

No surgery planned, actually. I'm just doing Optifast on its own. I know pretty much everyone here is having some sort of surgery but I think I'm going to run into a lot of similar challenges, especially with people who are required to do the program before their surger.

Some people do have to do Optifast before their surgery. Others just varying forms of a liquid diet. Good luck! Once you are off the heavy carbs it does get easier...

I did Optifast in the early 1990s and lost about 100 lbs. It's great for accelerated weight loss when you stick with it. It also seems to give you a lot of energy once you get past the first few days.
My problem was that staying on Optifast wasn't a realistic long term goal. Once I moved onto a modified Optifast program, I started eating the wrong things again. Then the weight piled back on, along with another 100+ lbs. This may not happen for you, but I'm just sharing my experience. I always found it very easy to lose weight when motivated, but keeping it off was an entirely different animal.
I wish you the very best of luck!

I'm up a smidgen this week, but this is consistent with my trend, 2 weeks of losses is followed by nothing lost of a small gain. The 220's are being so darn elusive-- but I'm sure I said the same about the 230's, 240's 250's etc LOL.

Hang in there girl! I've got that stair step pattern too, lose a little, gain even less, no loss, then drop again. I keep that in mind every time the scale creeps up & I hadn't changed my habits. You're doing great!

A month out and I'm finally feeling a bit better. Still having to watch what I pick up and avoid heavy stuff, but I'm doing better about it and it's bothering me less everyday.
I'm going to be back in the gym next week - yay! I'm taking it slow, only a few days (every other day) and starting at half time to see how it goes.
