Just getting started
Hello to you all. I am just getting started on this journey. Im at the point where you see different people to get a yes from. I would love some advice on 2 different surgery's the RNY and the sleeve. I cant really make up my mind on what one to get :( I am also doing the protein and carb charting it seems like I cant find foods/drinks that protein is higher..
Any advice will be great.. Thank you
Hi - good luck on your journey.
I would have been happy with either surgery, but I chose the Sleeve because I have chronic pain and I wanted the option of taking Aleve, Ibuprofen, etc. But, I made the final decision right before the surgery date, when I met with the surgeon and we reviewed the pros and cons of each surgery. So, don't fret about it now, you've got plenty of time to decide.
As far as the protein/carb charting, dense protein (meat and fish), eggs and cheese are the go-to foods; then comes yogurt. Also, I make shakes with Silk Almond Breeze as it has fewer carbs than regular milk.
Good luck.

I was in the exact same place i researched for 8 or 9 years and when I spoke with my surgeon he recommended the sleeve I have a i of 53.3 he told me people with weight loss success with the sleeve is better and they have less supplements ant better nutritional absorption and the chance of regain is there but he said it can be revised to rny later if need be! So i decided to get the sleeve but I'm still waiting for my date I was approved for surgery now I have to schedule it. I can't wait! Good luck with your journey it will be one for sure!

Hi,
Thank you for what you said in your message.
I have made up my mind on which one I am having.
I also chose the sleeve. In researching them for quite awhile ...
I am still going through the appointments at such.
I dont have to far to go before I get a yes from all areas :)
Good luck with your weight loss..
Thanks again
Sheila
