FIRST TIME POSTING BMI 60
Hi Everyone,
I was debating whether to bug any of you..since I'm new to this forum. I have a question. My bmi is 60 and have seen my pcp for other co-morbities; a miscarriage, arthritis, headaches, depression and weight gain. Last year he said he was referring me to a nutritionist but I didn't go. My last doctor's visit two weeks ago he didn't reffer me to a nutritionist, he told me he was going to reffer me to a bariatric specialist. Due to my high bmi, would I still have to do the 3 or 6 month supervised diet? What are your experiences? Nice to meet you all...
I don't have an answer to your question but just wanted to say Welcome! My starting BMI was 73 on Sept 22 2015. Today my BMI is 52.5. I started making positive changes before surgery because I thought it would help me get through my 2 week liquid diet preop and help to adjust to life post op
Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions!
Bug away, Sandra :) My insurance had strict guidelines to prepare for WLS...the six-month waiting period was valuable time to lose weight beforehand, education, and mindset-readiness for a better lifestyle. Now, a question for you--you write you didn't seek nutritionist help, then your doctor referred you to a bariatric specialist. Are YOU interested, wanting, and committed to a WLS lifestyle?
Yes, I am very interested in my wls. I fell of the wagon when I got pregnant in October, I rather have had my baby than the wls, but that didn't work out. I was only pregnant for 3 months. I am looking forward to this journey and have started replacing meals with protein shakes and watching what I eat. Just so new to this, so glad I found this website. Thank you.
Please call your insurance and ask what your requirements are. I went to my surgeon with a print out of everything I had to do.
