Thanks for the insight Lora.  It's funny, the closer I get to the surgery the less afraid of the surgery I am vs the after-effects with food and water.  I'm so used to chugging water, I think that will be the biggest challenge for me to overcome.  I'm just now coming to grips with my relationship with food I guess.  Been on the liquid diet now for 4 days and I think that is skewing my outlook.  I know this is the part I need to learn and listen to my body but I wish I could fast forward 2 months :-)

On a positive note, the parents' are being supportive now.  My Dr. had 0 complications last year and only 1 or 2 the year before and many people in my area think he's wonderful (including my GI Dr who said if he was going to have surgery by someone it would be this guy - Dr. Zare).  Anyway, suffice to say, I am struggling with the liquid diet but no longer having nervous anxiety about the surgery.  I'm sure that will change the night before and morning of, but, I'll deal with that if/when it comes.  I'm staying positive.  I've got lots to live for for myself and for those that love me and those that I love.  Their strength and God's will guide me through this journey.

We sound about the same, in terms of our stats!  I'm soon to have surgery too, a little after yours.. early May I'm hoping.  But I TOO, am terrified of anesthesia!  The "hard to wake up" part could be the amount of anesthesia used and/or the way your body metabolized it.  But, you did wake up.. and knowing that, I'm sure the anesthesiologist can "tune" his dose accordingly.  Go in with positive thoughts.. knowing that this is the beginning of the healthy you!!!  It's going to be wonderful.!!!

Yes, I am going in with no fear of the surgery (at least over the past week and a half)  I'm sure the morning of that will change but I'll be fine.  I'm on the liquid diet now and can't wait to get off of these not very good tasting protein meals.
