Glad to meet you all!  My BMI is 60.4.  I have no idea what's going to happen... I talk to my doctor on Feb. 10 and hope to get an RNY.  Can't wait to begin my journey!

You will need to find a surgeon that takes your insurance. Also speaking of insurance call yours now and ask if they pay for surgery and what hoops you have to jump through. Once you confirm they do you will then make contact with the surgeons office and go to an informational seminar. Then you start the process from there.

Welcome!  I second the advice of calling the number on the back of your insurance card if you haven't already.  Find out what they cover, what their requirements are, and get a list of approved surgeons in your area.

It's a great ride :)

hello strong!! Glad to meet you too! You and I have the same BMI which means we both need this surgery very badly!  I have a surgery date of Feb 3 and has been a busy but a breeze getting all my ducks in a row and get approved by my insurance! .... take the advice of the other commentators about getting in touch with your insurance and see if your surgeon accepts that insurance.... i am very blessed as my surgeon accepts what the insurance pays as his payment!   Can't wait to get on the loser's bench.... 9 more days!!!  I'll be looking for your comments on this forum and be right here if you have questions or concerns!!

Thank you, Ida!  It seems like I have so long yet to wait, but I did talk to Medicare for my insurance and they said it will all be covered.  Don't have a surgeon yet, I think it will probably be someone my GP recommends.  She has been wanting me to do this  for a long time.  I'll be thinking of you and ready to support you when you come out (and until then!)  Blessings.... :)
