Can a breast reduction be done at the same time as weight loss surgery?

I have been what many people would consider to be well endowed since about the age of 13. Over the last 5 years I've had pain in my mid to upper back areas and seems to have gotten worse as my weight increased. I currently more than 150 pounds over my ideal body weight even after losing 25 pounds over the past 4 months to bring me to my current weight of 278 pounds. I currently wear a size 54DDD bra and I am short stature (only 5'0"). I think all of these factors have contributed to my back pain and mobility issues. I have had a few friends and family members who had breast reduction surgery over the years and they had found relief. I have discussed this with my husband who initially was against me looking into getting a breast reduction saying that he finds me attractive at my current size and doesnt want me to change. I told him that I still would be good size after surgery just not as excessively large as is the case now so, I think I may have convinced him otherwise. Can breast reduction surgery be done at the same time as weight loss surgery? Do you feel relief right after surgery or does that take a while?
I dont think too many, if any surgeons, would do that. Any kind of plastic/reconstructive surgery takes a lot from our bodies and we need to be able to get in a lot of protein for healing. After WLS, you wont be able to do that and healing would be susbtantially compromised.

No, it is extremely unlikely that any surgeon would do a breast reduction on someone who is having WLS. Number one, those are two different kinds of surgeons needed. Number two, no insurance company is going to approve a breast reduction to be done along with WLS when you might not NEED a breast reduction after losing the weight.
Also, a 54DDD bra size means that you are carrying much more weight in your belly than in your actual breasts, so the pain is more likely from the weight of your belly than the weight from the breasts themselves, and so your breasts might be a very acceptable size once you lose the weight.
I hope my response doesn't sound mean. I certainly don't intend for it to be. I needed to lose 190 pounds (on a 5'3" body), was already a C-cup in Junior High School, and had enormous breasts and belly before my RNY (see pics in my profile), so I was right where you are.
FWIW, I went from 330+ pounds to about 145 pounds and I still have DDD-cup (or larger) breasts. I have thought about a reduction, but what they actually have to do (cutting the entire nipple out and moving it, etc.) just creeps me out!

Hi there,
I had skin removal surgery in Dec 2013 from this amazing surgeon in Monterrey Mexico and had everything done at once and the best part, after all the skin gone...lol...was that I had no pain...I did my research before but when I fell on this doctor, you won't find a better surgeon in my opinion anywhere in the Sates or Canada..
I had deon at the same time: Large thigh lift, Lower Body Lift with anchor cut, Breat Lift w/augmentation, Large arm lift and a neck lift.
I am returning early next year to get the final step done which will be a Upper Body lift (he can't do a lower and upper at the same time cuz the skin would pull in both direction and something would give...lol)
Just in case you want a peak, this is his thread here on OH - http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/Dr_Sauceda_Patients/discuss ion/
Hope it helps!

The original poster wasn't asking about having all of her plastic surgery done at one time. She was asking about having a breast reduction done at the same time as her weight loss surgery.
