Hi there:-),

That is a lot to lose in 30 days but doable!  Im thinking your Dr is looking to see commitment to the process as well as loss in the abdominal area for surgery.

I started my food journal 2 days after surgery and have done it daily for 15 months...needless to say I have a lot of steno books lol.  About 3 mos ago I started tracking on MFP as my protein was low at my 12mos post op visit.  It helps a lot especially with the protein and fluids.

As far as dropping the wt goes...as much as I don't think its healthy...liquid diet.  Do the protein shakes, low sodium broths, waters, crystal lights etc.  I think you'll find it'll work.  Where are you at weight loss wise in the process as July 22 is coming up?  I only know that as my bday is the 21st lol.  So, how are you doing and what have you decided??

Im 5'8 as well.  Question, do you consider yourself 'tall'?  I know off topic and dumb lol but theres a method to my madness...generally:-)

Hi Tia,

I have used MFP too but for some reason actually writing it down in a journal works better for me. I combine the two...an extra step but like you, I have a method to my madness.

Been doing the liquid diet for the last two weeks. I have messed up once or twice but not bad. I didn't over do it, I just ate food. Weight wise I have no idea where I am since I do not own a scale...I am severely allergic to them. :) I will find out when I go to the dr tomorrow. I know my clothes feel looser, so I know there has been some loss, just not sure how much.

Well Happy Birthday!!!! Hope you have/had a great day!!

I don't consider myself as tall as others seem to think I am. Does that make sense? I know I have to get tall pants and things so to answer your question, yes I do in some respects. How about you?

Well I am having the surgery, I just don't know when. It all hinges on tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.

Hey Lisa,

And a glorious 49th birthday it was thank you!

I always wore average or talls and now I find I have to buy petites as most are too long for my 29.5/30 inch inseem.  Crazy.

Make sure you let us know how it goes!  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  You got this!!

I journal every single day and then at the end of the day plug in into MFP.  MFP would have upset me more during the beginning of my trip with vsg.  I couldn't drink protein shakes(nausea) and was hardly getting fluids in while others were at 90oz.  I didn't have a rough surgery or anything just swelling from band removal and vsg.  Its major surgery and some folks just don't get it...including their surgeons.

Best of luck with your surgery and hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Lisa, don't fret, don't stress. Tough and sweet love here. Tell yourself: No excuses, move forward. I know you cant run, WALK each day as much as you can.  I tried "practicing" a liquid diet prior to surgery, I knew I was going to be on a liquid diet post op, I REALLY wanted  to get to the end, its not easy. I did protein diets (muscle builder sites or health stores mixed with fruit?), over the counter and others. I know you will be hungry, those are the NASTY hormones we must fight, It's hard, I know. Keep telling yourself you are on a mission.  Most importantly, don't give up and don't make excuses, hold yourself to a higher standard in spite of the disease . It is absolutely worth it AND Douable, I promise! It's a little bit physiology and a little bit mind games. If you don't make the full goal, but you come close, it will show "commitment" and you will have your surgery. Don't let that stress you out and by all means, don't fail.

MercyQ. This is the Beginning of the Rest of my Life!!

Hi Mercy! Thanks for the advice! I am doing all of the things you have suggested except for not fretting and not stressing! lol!  I had an appointment with my dr on the 22nd. Well, I was down a total of 11 pounds. Not what he wanted but still down and he was happy. Still won't schedule me for surgery until I lose 10-15 more. This time I have until August 26.
