1 Week to Surgery

I got a phone call last week a couple days after I started my pre op diet. The Doctor asked me how much weight I had lost and I told him that I only lost a couple pounds, The doctor said he wants me to lose 10 lbs or better by the surgery date. Since that phone call I have stuck to nothing but 2 to 3 protein shakes a day, lots and lots of water, I had my regular Dr put me on a water pill to stop the retaining of water, and I exercise at least 30 minutes a day. So far in 5 days I have lost 10 lbs. My question is. Does this happen in the normal process? I'm scared to death I'm going to get to surgery and the Doc not operate on me because I have not lost enough weight. I have no clue about shrinking the liver but I hope that with the progress I have made thus far that Its doing some good. I am in Ketosis so I am burning Fat now and dropping about 2 lbs a day. Am I over reacting? I guess the main reason I am scared is because I have it in the back of my mind that this Doctor will not operate on me because I weight 500 lbs. I am proud to say I have gone from 518 down to 498.

Hi

He will still operate, he just wants to see if you are compliant. I also started at 476 and my Surgeon did not require a pre-op diet. My first month I lost 40ish pounds. You are going to be so happy with this decision. Congrats on the 20 pound loss:)
