How do you reward yourself?

All of my life, we have celebrated accomplishments with food. That adds up to a lot of weight for an over achiever like me!  So, I am trying to find ways to celebrate that do not include food. One thing I do is treat myself to a pedicure every time I lose another 30 lbs.  My husband gets frustrated that I "pay $40.00 to get toenails cut". I think next time I will remind him it would cost that much for a couple of margaritas, enchiladas, chips & queso...And 2000 calories...LOL. How about you?  How do you celebrate personal achievements or for others when something great happens?

I love massages.  I'm on a monthly massage plan and it's amazing.  They make great rewards!

I actually had an idea the other day for a perfect "100 pounds lost" reward, but now I can't remember it.  ARGH.  It was an awesome idea.

I think I was thinking that when I hit 75 pounds down I want to do the entire manicure/pedicure thing.  I've never done such a thing before and I think it would be fun. :)

My personal experience...when I do a mani/pedi, they always want to do it at the same time. Part of the enjoyment of the pedicure is leaning back in the massage chair and tuning out the world. It is hard to do that when you are balancing a bowl of water and switching hands for them to "pamper" you. I have learned that the manicure needs to be done on a different day if I need one. I like my pedicure too much to have the relaxation time ruined.   But that's just my preference. I think every grown woman should experience a professional pedicure. Some do not enjoy them. I do feel pampered and refreshed afterwards. I know you will meet your goal and hope you enjoy!

Thanks!  That's actually super advice.  I've only ever had manicures in my life, so maybe when I get there I'll just schedule a standalone pedicure but maximal pampering!

When I lost my first 100 pounds, I remodeled my closet. I ripped out everything, painted it, and installed a new cherry system. I designed it and did it all myself (I am a handy gal). It finally gave me the courage to clean out all my big clothes. They were NOT going back into my new beautiful closet.

I have also heard other people say they got a Pandora bracelet and gave themselves a new charm every 10 pounds. I like that idea, too.

Pedis are always good.

Now in maintenance, it is harder to think of rewards. I guess my reward now is just living a great life without my weight holding me back.

love the closet remodel idea!

What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me?

I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord,  I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones.

O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the child of your serving girl. You have loosed my bonds. -- Psalm 116:12-16

I go to the bookstore I get a pedicure about every 6 weeks, and started doing that once I really started losing. I also buy myself a new water bottle periodically, or something small that makes my life easier/more enjoyable in terms of health and wellness.

I fight badgers with spoons.
