Hello, I have a BMI over 60.
I am still in the 60 BMI club, but hopefully not for long! :o) When I started this journey, my BMI was 64. whatever. Then I was refered to a dietitian, I changed how I eat, 1800 a day, to show how commited I am to WLS. I am down 17 pounds in 1 1/2 months. I also know that after surgery, you need to exercise daily, so I've already stared some water aerobics, but need to do some muscle toning.
I still am in the beginning phases of WLS, going to the seminar next month and can't wait to get started! I am hoping that I can get it sooner because of the early start I've gotten by being on here and absorbing all the knowledge of the sage and wise veterans!
Hi purplequeeny,
My starting BMI was 60.2, so I was right there with you. I am almost 1 year post-op (15 months of weight-loss) and my BMI is now 29. The surgery is amazing. Its not easy, but it really works. You do have to commit to following the program, but the WLS makes it possible.
Best of luck to you. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Hello when I started with my program I had a BMI of 61.7 by BMI now is 38.6. I am not looking at BMI but have a goal weight in mind which is about 35 pounds away and then see how I like it. I am 6 foot and have a big frame so I want to retain some size. I just want to be healthy was my main goal.
Hi there! I started my journey in August 2013 and at the time of my first surgeon visit I weighed 381 (height 5'4") with a BMI of 65.4.
I had RNY surgery 5 weeks ago on March 4th, 2014 and I weighed 340.6 with a BMI of 58.5. Yesterday I weighed in at 309.8 with a BMI of 53.2! That's a total weight loss of 71.2 pounds and a BMI decrease of 12.2. I am really happy with the results so far and although I do still have a long way to go, I am very motivated to change my life.
Good luck to you! Commit to this, to changing your life, and you will have success.
At my heaviest, my BMI was 84.5! As of yesterday, I have lost 250 pounds (still more to go to reach MY goal), have a weight that starts with a "one" and my current BMI is 37.2.
I love my sleeve. It was the best surgery for me and my medical issues (which are fast disappearing!)
I am hardcore. I refuse to dabble in rice, pasta, breads, etc... They will only slow down my weightloss. I have stayed on plan 100%-100% of the time since starting the process. It is possible to be very successful with a higher BMI. :)

Hi! My starting BMI was 57.2 (344 lbs) -- so pretty close. I had an RNY 14 weeks ago and am down to 42.3 (258). I've got 3% more to be just "obese" instead of "extremely obese" lol.
Good luck!!
