Also include in your diet.  Be as accurate as possible.   I think this could really help some of us see the possibilities that could come from our surgery.   For example:

RNY in March 2013. I am 10 months post op.  I am down 143 lbs.  i started at 373lbs and now I weigh 230.  I have not exercised at all. Having issues with back problems and headaches which have slowed my exercise.  However, I am trying to correct it because as nicer weather will be here in a few months I would like to get moving more.

I have been eating great up until Thanksgiving.  Ever since then I have been eating more sweets and I am sick of it.  I have not come this far to just gain back my weight.  I am still losing but it is slower.  So I have kicked the junk  to the curb and I'm really ready to go back to the way that I was eating for the first 8-9 months.  Wish me luck!  It's a process!!

I had RNY September 2008 at 311. One year later  I weighed 148 so a loss of 163. I currently weigh around 140. I am 5'7" tall.

I did no exercise until i was 7 months out. I did not test the waters as far as food is concerned until i was at goal.

You are still in the stage where you can eat crap and still lose but it will catch up with you. I hope you get a handle on it. Good luck!!

I feel better since I have stopped eating bad things.  It's amazing how food makes u feel.  It's not like I was eating anything close to what I used to eat before surgery but still sweets here and there were not going to do anything good for me.

I had the DS, and it was a slow loser (very metabolically challenged pre-op, so I wasn't surprised). I have no scale, so amounts and dates aren't exact, but lost over 150 lbs in about 18 months.

I now eat much closer to a normal person that I did pre-op ( I avoided even healthy fats pre-op, like avocado, olive oil, coconut or nuts) and eat smallish/normal sized meals now, and maintain at a normal BMI easily.

One thing that mattered MUCH more to me than how quickly I'd lose, was how easy it would be to maintain that loss LONG TERM. I read every study I could find on the different surgeries. I'll be 6 years post op on Jan 28, and still maintaining my loss and idling easily at a normal BMI. I ditched all my co-morbs (apnea, GERD, PCOS, high blood pressure and high blood fats) and the prescriptions that came with them, and feel like singing about my surgery from the roof tops every morning!

VSG on 03/05/13

I'm in the same place.   I had VSG on March 5th,  I'm now 10 months out too and "was" down 136 pounds, but back up 4 since Christmas.  :(

I"ve been eating basically whatever I want this past month.  Normally i suppose i'd have gained 10 lbs, so being up 3 or so pounds might not be technically bad, but I do have some regret.  My 10th month I only lost 3 lbs... and then put back 2 before my 10th month weigh-in date.  Time to get get back with it, which I am.  I'm happy for it, but I still feel down in the dumps that "this is it now" and I'll weigh 247 to 251 the rest of my days, but even if so, it's better than 383.  :/

VSG on 05/13/13

I had the VSG in May 2013. I started at 444 lbs and at one year out from starting the six month supervised diet (November 20th) (and six months out from surgery), I had lost 215.2 lbs. I know you asked for people one year out from surgery, but I figured if I had surgery at that starting weight, then there probably wasn't any way that I would've lost LESS at one year post op!

Up until about 6-7 weeks ago, I was eating 650-750 calories, 90-100 grams of protein, and less than 25 grams of carbs. The only exercising I was doing was walking. When I joined a gym almost two months ago, my calories have gone up to 750-900, 100-110 grams of protein, and less than 40 grams of carbs. I think the increase in physical activity and being six months out from surgery has made my actual hunger increase, so I have been eating more - but trying to use the extra capacity I have now too to eat more veggies!

VSG on 11/21/12 with

VSG on 11/21/12.  Lost 18 preop from July 2012 to day before surgery, 175 postop.

Lean, dense proteins first and always; no fruit other than blueberries (and those under duress); green vegs in tiny bits; little or no added carbs other than what was incidental to what I was eating, like the carbs in my reduced-fat cheeses.  Protein shakes mixed with water or unsweetened plain almond milk to keep my numbers up or as meal subs when on the go.  Fluids were/are 80+ ounces per day.  Vitamins and supplements as prescribed by my surgeon and my PCP.

WEIGHING/MEASURING and LOGGING every damn day and weighing myself every damn day, with no intention of stopping either one.

Calories in WL mode were usually under 700 per day (under 600 per day for quite a while), but now in maintenance I am taking in 900-1,000 per day.

Still trying hard to undereat my sleeve and not graze, but both of those are more difficult to avoid now that I'm over one year postop.  Still eat the lean, dense proteins first, but as I'm in maintenance I will now add in some fats or safe carbs like baked sweet potato (NOT the canned, candied variety).

On principle I still will not eat protein bars or sugar-free substitute goodies other than Truvia or Torani SF syrup in coffee, tea or Greek yogurt.  Also on principle I will not resume drinking soda of any type.

Good luck!
