Blended foods

How long did it take other people to get to the blended or real food stage of their post-op diet? My program recommends 2 weeks clear liquids and whey protein isolate, then 2 weeks thicker liquid protein shakes before moving on to blended foods. I am a little over 1 week post-op and on the thicker liquid shakes because I couldn't stomach any of the whey protein isolates. I hate it! I hate these thick, nasty protein shakes, and anything I add unflavored soy protein isolate to just turns weird and gross. Is the program I'm on an average timeline in other peoples' experience as far as progressing to real foods? I am just making myself miserable with these protein shakes and liquid only diets. I feel like I would fight someone for just some simple scrambled eggs or something. I feel like I'm being really over dramatic about this, but at the same time, I'm getting really sick of the protein shakes with the end feeling like it's an eternity away.

after I seen the surgeon after 2 weeks I was on all foods but told to start slow with softer stuff

my plan does not have a blended food stage

i was allowed to start "full liquids" on postop day 5.  That included stuff like low-fat or fat-free yogurt (no fruit), certain grades of milk, very thin cream of wheat or grits (no, thanks), pureed cottage cheese, unsweetened applesauce, strained low-fat soups.  .  Absolutely no chunks or pieces in anything.  That lasted for a week before I moved up to more solid types of pureed food.

I have read of food plans like yours on the VSG forum before.

Can you get some Unjury Chicken Soup protein or else some unflavored protein to mix with warm broth?  That might help.  The Unjury saved my sanity early on when I was SICK of Bariatric Advantage Chocolate shakes.

Saw my surgeon a couple days ago and he told me if I am feeling up to it then to go ahead and try some new things. I try to stay on the more tender/moister side of meats. Eating tuna salad and chicken salad no problem, and snacking on Ostrim snack sticks and jerky with no issues.

They key for me seems to be to chew until you absolutely annihilate that protein. If it isn't the consistancy of paste when you swallow it you are doing it wrong!

My program was full liquids days 1-3. Modified liquids days 4-14. Modified meant everything from days 1-3 plus protein shakes, Greek yogurt, blended cottage cheese, cream soups with no lumps. They moved me to pureed today because I have been totally compliant (my weight loss has been great in the 10 days post surgery ~ 19 pounds), rather than making me wait 4 more days. I will be on Pureed for two weeks.
