So I don't post much but I lurk a lot. I feel like this forum gets me more than any others because I started at 455 pounds. I am 6 foot tall and currently at around 299. I have a large frame as well. I had thought 225 might be my goal. Now I am thinking 250. I talked to my barber who is 58 and 250 and he doesn't even look big to me. My sleep apnea is at 18 episodes an hour which is moderate and mild is 15 so if I get it down to between 5 to 10 times an hour it is bye bye CPAP. I am just curious what you all think of my goal? I do try to go to the gym 3 times a week but I am not a heavy lifter although I do have some muscles now.

I think determining a goal weight is a very complicated and personal thing. I feel like "goal weight" would serve us better if we instead went for "goal feeling." It sounds like you have great goals established. I can't tell you what changing your goal would mean. I can tell you that you have done SO WELL so far and if when you get to 250 you feel GREAT, then you might have your answer.

I read a great quote somewhere about goal weight:

Your goal weight should be something you can easily maintaining while living the life you want to live.

Get to 250 and see how you feel there.

My boyfriend is 6'2" and about 260. I think he needs to get down to 220, because he carries most of his weight around his middle, which is dangerous for his heart.

We can all wish want we want are goal weight to be.  But, After two years it gets hard to lose more  weight and have worry about not regaining.  Your  body pretty much tells you where it wants you to be.  You  have stay a weight that is health for you.  Your fighting for your life.  Just don,t give up.  I lost 195 and was not still close to my goal weight.  I had picked for myself at 180 pounds.  Which to me seem like a normal weight.  I went 395 to 210 pounds and I am now 222 pounds for women that is still consider big. So i never made to my goal weight.

I am just  trying work not to regain any more.   You need to get  a place you don,t have to worry about feet swelling and where you can get around and walk better. Their so many  problems related to the sleep apnea.  Your blood pressure.  Your heart, You  need to get it where can control it. Without Medication.  Getting your weight where can sleep at night . It  is a must. You life depends on it.  Yoga is way better than weights. Beach Body Video,s has men,s Yoga. and easy work outs. You need to get you weight to where can manage your health.  Face it.  We all dream being a normal weight once in our lives.  If that happens for you great.  Your health is what is most important.  For and your loved ones.

You are very accurate. I am actually quite mobile. I can even do 45 minutes on the treadmill at a pretty fast pace. I was lucky that even when I was 455 i was still pretty mobile. My doctor said if I get down to 250 he will do another sleep test and I may no longer need my cpap. I have been thinking about zumba because to be honest I really hate going to the gym.
